“Two Words: Dog Beach!”

One of the most amazing places on Earth for well-socialized dogs and their favorite people. A half mile of sandy beach bordered by Lake Michigan along its west side, and a natural sand dune to the east. There aren't any trash bins on the beach, so be sure to bring an extra dog waste bag and be prepared to carry it full along with any other trash you might accumulate back up the steps/ramp. The park has a beach section designated for dogs around a mile long, and is the cleanest beach I have ever seen. The dog area allows our cainine friends to be off leash and frolic in the water and sand like we do. The only thing is that to be off leash you have to have manners and not be aggressive to other dogs. There are sometimes cleanup bags but it is best to bring your own. Cleaning up after your dog is mandatory. Without it, they will close the dog beach opportunity. Of course if you have an extra bag, there is a bag holder to leave it for someone who mistakenly forgot one. Truly a place to enjoy a walk with your four legged friend, sit and watch the waves, or just play.

Love the handicapable ramps to go up and down from the shaded parking area. Sometimes its nice to just walk up a ramp after sand walking.
