“Lovely Dining Get-Away”
Reviewed June 14, 2013

This restaurant is certainly worth a detour, as the Michelin Guide describes it. We went for our anniversary. The food is fabulous, the dining room is lovely (newly redecorated in 2012), the service is very nice. The personnel are very friendly and ready to help you with the menu selections. Their French and German is better than their English, but they are eager to work with you. The menu is in French, so it helps to know a food words. Or just take the fixed price menu and be surprised. The menu for EUR 87 was excellent, with selections of starter, main course, and dessert, of course with extra courses in between to keep you going. A cheese course was available for a little extra. Service was leisurely, but excellent. The wine selection was extensive with single glasses and bottles available. The sommelier was ready to advise on the selection and prices. At lunch the dress ranged from coat and tie to smart casual. Dinner might be more toward coat and tie.

“Phenomenal meal, great romantic getaway.”
Reviewed May 23, 2013

We had an anniversary meal here and it was just a phenomenal experience. Don't let the 1-star ranking fool you; this place is on a par with much more celebrated restaurants elsewhere. The only thing that might be difficult for some is that not a one of the waiters would speak a bit of English, but that was okay as they did speak Deutsch. It's also kind of off the beaten track, so you definitely have to drive to find it.

We had the full Menu Découverte with wine pairings and I lost track of the number of courses towards the end. Highlights were scallops, foie gras, mushroom puree, etc. It would be impossible to fully describe each course, suffice to say that all were delicious, artful, and it was a meal that we will remember for a long, long time.

Definitely an outstanding experience, and a great setting as well. I also fully recommend the hotel for a romantic getaway. Very, very expensive, but honestly you know that coming in, so who cares? Enjoy life

“Good food mediocre service”
Reviewed July 5, 2012

The fine food was perfectly delicious, between every course a small in-between-course was delivered promptly. The restaurant is nice, but a bit too loud. The service level is not as high as expected and could be improved. The service level is not exactly what you expect paying a upper class price like in this restaurant.

“Dining as art, great quality, but high price”
Reviewed July 3, 2012

It's an adventure to dine here. Everything is presented elegantly and elaborately. Every bite is a work of art. Sometimes I wasn't absolutely certain what I was eating, but whatever it was it was great. Desserts were great too. Coffee/tea was theater as well, with an entire cart of goodies to choose from -- actually you wouldn't need dessert, there's such an extensive selection. Do not pass up the macaroons!
