“A Fabulous Hotel”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

We booked this room 24hrs before we arrived, decided to book just one night after reading a few negative reviews on TA. Wish we had booked for two nights, what a great hotel.

The decor inside the hotel is a pleasant surprise and added interest to our stay. Our room, number one, was huge with a extremely comfortable bed. There was also a small terrace to sit and relax and take in the view of the vineyard terraces stretching up,the hillside.

The staff could not have been more helpful, would throughly recommend this hotel.

Kayserberg a pretty town, full of timbre framed houses with window boxes stuffed with geraniums. The town is surrounded by vineyards which are criss-crossed with cycle routes/walking paths should you wish to explore.

We enjoyed eating at the Flammenkusch, a traditional Alsacian dish, restaurant across the road for the hotel, friendly attentive staff and delicious menu.

Very nice and quiet hotel in the beautiful city, Kaysersberg. The staff speaks excently English and is very helpfull. Our trippleroom was quite large and had a small bay window. The spa-area is very nice and cosy and there are free bathrobes and towels in the rooms. We only stayed one night, but we'll definitely choose this hotel again, next time we go to Kaysersberg.

By excellent experiences in July 2012 we booked this hotel and restaurant on the way back from Italy. Due to traffic problems in the St. Gotthard Tunnel we arrived around 9 pm..The receptionist refused us the access to the restaurant at this time and referred us to the nearby Flamme and Co (a nearby 'trendy' (?) restaurant, assuming that we - not being French citizens – don’t have high standards for fine dining. It didn’t come up at all to our expectations and was certainly not an alternative to a dinner at Chambard's restaurant.Arrived in the hotel room we had to establish that the air conditioning did not work and it was impossible to control it manually. We reported this defect to the reception, but we were given to understand that the air conditioning in our room was centrally controlled from the reception and that it was impossible to control it manually by us in our room. Since the temperature in the room was indicating ± 24 ° C. and the air conditioning was still not working, we contacted the reception again several times. There was no action taken at all. After nearly an hour waiting in vain for improvement of the situation, we decided to repack our suitcases and to leave your hotel before midnight. We have explained the situation again to an employee of the hotel at the front desk, as we could not sleep in a very warm hotel room and consequently had no option than to leave. We did so in English and to our best knowledge of the French language, but the employee answered repeatedly that he could only speak French and couldn’t understand any of our grieves.

Room Tip: If you are'nt French citizens and/or don't speak perfect French we recommend to avoid this h...

Stayed here one night for a business meeting. Initial impressions were a bit average, but the rooms were extremely good and had been recently refurbished a very nice modern style.
Food in the bistro as part of the package was distinctly average and we had two separate wine spillages.

Overall, a good choice.

There are Zebras everywhere: chairs, door frames, carpets.
But even though we don´t love Zebras (besides in the Zoo), we adored the room. Very charming colours, a big and modern bathroom and a nice sitting area.
The service in the hotel is very nice.
The lounge is modern, too, but a little bit crowded. The teas they´re offering there in the afternoon and the sweets are superb !
We liked the room where they´re serving breakfast, which was well selected and good.
They refurbished the restaurant and it took some time for us to like it. But now we´re sure that it creates a nice atmosphere (besides the tables - the material reminded us of our college cantines). The restaurant is GREAT.

Room Tip: Be sure to get a table in the main restaurant, because if it is crowded they might give you a table...

On arrival our first impressions were very positive, easy parking (if you arrive early enough), and a very pleasant check in with reception, however this was to be very short lived. The receptionist showed us to our room - which we believed to be a standard double number 108, quickly explained how to enter and to leave the key in order for the lights to work, then she made a hasty exit in order for us to be greeted by the very disappointing room for a hotel supposedly with a 4 star rating in France. The room was on the side of the hotel with no view, and the window was in a bizarre side room which was of no use at all so there was no natural light in the main bedroom. The room was very dark. There were scratches and paint stains on the door and the wiring left little to the imagination with extension plugs in use and electric storage heaters on the walls. This was a very tired room and its usage was more than obvious. The most disappointing aspect was the bathroom, I've had a more modern and clean bathroom in an Ibis hotel. There were cracked floor tiles, the shower hose was black and broken near to the tap, the fans in the ceiling were covered in dust.

We spoke with reception to advise of our disappointment -asking to be moved, however we were informed that this was not possible as the hotel was fully booked and there was nothing they could do. On check out in the morning, our complaints were met with the comment from the receptionist "ah you were in room 108" - which clearly showed she knew of the issues in this room and that it was not the first complaint they had received. Apparently this was one of 3 remaining rooms in the hotel not refurbished ..... however this room was definitely priced at the refurbished rate ......

All in all a very disappointing room and stay which looked promising from previous TripAdvisor reviews and from the hotels own internet site. This has let down the image of a hotel which has pleased many guests if you happen to be lucky enough to get a nice room. We were also very disappointed by the reaction - or lack of one from the reception staff.

Room Tip: Only take a refurbished room - 108 was extremely poor and in desperate need of renovation to match t...

We just returned from a New Year's Break in Kaysersberg, Alsacia, France. We stayed at the Chambard and very much enjoyed. The hotel is perfect, the rooms are great and most important a great, modern, shower!! Personal a bit "reserved" but friendly, remember we are in France.. We only dined once in the Winstub restaurant, which was fine. On purpose we "stayed away" from the more classy *restaurant in the hotel. A bit pricey and not the atmosphere we were looking for during these holidays. All in all a pleasant experience, we would repeat!!
