“Perfect place in Vis”

From the very beginning of communication and reservation, everything was for every praise and thanks to Monika's swift action and understanding we managed to book the house in the heart of the season.

Villa Oceanus is in fact a renovated traditional Dalmatian house with an appendix. On two floors, tastefully decorated as a blend of modern and old Dalmatian spirit. It has all the necessary appliances available, in the private yard you also have barbecue to use ... seating furniture requires little bit of maintenance from time to time but all ok.

Check in and check out went sooth and without any problems, Ivana made it very simple and professionally. She made a familiarisation with us for the surrounding area and neighbourhood , the house and it's equipment .... we got all the necessary instructions, details and information ... just perfect. All in all House Oceanis is a nice place to spend your vacation on Vis Island.

The greatest! Our family of four people realy liked the high standard. Lovely traditional high sealing inner roof at the topfloor, outside a sweet terass. One evening we used the outdoor grill just chilling. Pittoresk sorounding, in the middle of it all. Highly recomended.

“Wonderful family stay, already looking to return to Vis next summer”
Reviewed June 24, 2017 for a stay in June 2017

We just returned from a 3 weeks family holiday in Croatia, which included 5 nights, 6 days on Vis, and are already starting to plan a return trip to the island next summer, we loved it so much, and would easily return to this great family -friendly property.

We are a family of 4, 2 adults, 2 boys (ages 9 and 3), and traveled from Southern California. Getting to Vis is easier than you think, as there are ferries direct from Split, between the islands, or if you're like us and needed to get from Brac to Vis when there was no direct ferry available, there are water taxies to hire from Hvar - (we took the ferry from Milna on Brac to Hvar, and then had our water taxi waiting to take us from the ferry port in Hvar to Vis, which was a bit pricey but the kids loved it, was extremely convenient, and easy given the volume of luggage and small children. I was able to arrange this in advance online and it was very simple, and we used the same company - Musun- located a 5 minutes walk from the house- to return to Hvar and do a private charter with skipper day trip around the island to see the best secret spots known only to locals and accessible only by boat, amazing!) It was Yacht week while we were there, so town was hopping and lively and super fun, but without the craziness that you find in Hvar town.

The house was perfect for our family. There are 2 very comfortable bedrooms downstairs on the entrance floor and a proper foyer (i'm big on this), with a huge bathroom next to the master (shower only) and a washer for laundry (drying rack outside.) The mattresses were the most comfortable we experienced during this European trip, the bedding was crips, clean, and high quality, and the whole unit was in excellent condition. Upstairs was the family living space, with a chic little kitchen and open concept space with large comfortable couch and huge dining table, and a great balcony. There were enough TV channels in English to keep the kids occupied at night - lots of National Geographic animal stories... The property does have air condition, which we used because it started to get very hot and when the windows were left open, the bees would come in. The kitchen had every appliance and utensil you might need on vacation, and we also loved the downstairs courtyard, which was a great outdoor space for my kids and the occasional visiting cat.

The neighborhood has the exquisite old stone charm that I wanted but the interior had every modern convenience, including the necessary strong wifi connection because... that's modern life. There is another room accessible from the outside that we used to store luggage, but I wouldn't consider it a bedroom. The house is only a 4 minutes walk from the ferry port, which is where our water taxi dropped us off, and Ivana, our local contact, was kindly waiting for us as we arrived and even brought her daughters to help us with our luggage (and Ivan from the water taxi helped too, we had that much stuff!) We got their early in the day, and were permitted to store our things securely in the basement while the house was getting readied from the prior guests, which we greatly appreciated.

The location of the house is unbeatable. It is in walking distance to a plethora of restaurants, bars, cafes, and markets, and 2 playgrounds, so even though there is no parking, you can get away without a car every day. We walked from the house to Kut regularly, and even hoofed it to Grandovac beach - but we actually preferred the closer beach Prirovo that had much calmer water and easier access for the kids and had a great little bar. There is a bakery down the street that was a quick and easy breakfast option or picnic take away, a produce market and butcher, a small grocer, a toy store, and all the tourist agencies you might need to hire a car or boat. The first 2 days we were on the island we were pedestrians, enjoying Vis and Kut and getting to beaches and restaurants by foot. On days 3 and 5 we hired a car (yes, they do have automatic) and ventured to Komiza (we prefer Vis and Kut), Zaglav and Stiniva Bay (my son's absolute favorite) and managed the steep trail on foot (it's a hell of a descent with a toddler, but worth every bead of sweat and there is a restaurant, bathroom, and beach chairs to rent so you can pack minimally), Day 4 we went back to our water taxi company and did a fantastic 6 hours boat tour with a young skipper who grew up on Vis and knew everybody, visiting Green Cave, a secret tiny beach accessible only by water and known only to locals which was the most fantastic swimming experience of our lives, plus a stop at the beautiful swim spot Budikovac and then a fantastic end of day lunch at Stoncica.
The food on Vis was honestly the most delicious I've ever enjoyed in my life - and my 9 years old son who is normally a picky eater suddenly has developed a palate and appreciation for extraordinary food - he was eating Octopus and tuna carpaccio, black cuttlefish ravioli - the food blew our mind, as did the fantastic wine and hospitality at every shop and restaurant. This is truly a beautiful island with beautiful people. Out of all of our travels, Vis is a family favorite, and my oldest son has already asked to return next summer.

“Little Hideway in peaceful Vis”

Lovely house, very clean all amenities. Up a slight hill but 2 mins from the ferry and port. We were met off the ferry which was fab. Love the sun deck a really peaceful place to relax. Juts know that the 3rd bedroom is down tricky wooden hatch that opens into the double bedroom. Its lovely down there but not ideal for sharing of its not with your kids!
Also only other thing, theres no parking and we were advised to use the car park in the port which is expensive 20e per day. Its very safe but it would be helpful to let us know some other parking options.
We really enjoyed our stay. The island is beautiful and the people very nice.

The house is comfortable, tastefully furnished. The island has a very soothing atmosphere, nice views, decent roads. The local cuisine is good standard, yet if you really like good slow food, Darko's konoba is simply a must: located in Zena Glava, the food is a true feast, produced exclusively from domestic products. Baby goat peka recommended :)

“Quality on beautiful Vis”

We stayed at Villa Oceanus for 9 nights, and can say that the Villa has been beautifully renovated and refurbished to a very high standard, all in solid woods, stone, marble and tiles. It is in the old part of Vis (not Kut), so you feel you are in the historic area of the town, the accommodation is very spacious and you feel like there are many areas to go to within the Villa, as well as being over 2 floors there are lots of split level areas between the outdoor BBQ/Grill area, hall etc. Everything was totally clean, and the location is perfect for access to bars, restaurants, car hire (we hired from Navigator as they offer full insurance - and the others don't seem to), but far enough away so you don't hear any noise from the harbour area. We were met upon arrival by an English speaking employee of the owner, who showed us where the Villa was and everything you need to know. You have good views from the front upstairs windows of the bay, and you can see the mountains and a little of the Adriatic from the upstairs patio area. The island is completely unspoilt, and we spent most of our time visiting the different beaches for swimming and snorkelling (by taking the car), you can walk or cycle to many different beaches from Villa, but the most beautiful ones are best accessed by boat/car. We would recommend this Villa to anyone visiting Vis, but would suggest to check with the owner if the boat will be available for your stay if you are planning to use it.
