“The Best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 24, 2013

Just arrived in Leon Nicaragua. Asked hotel receptionist to point us in direction of a nice restaurant. Carnivoro, about three blocks down on the same road as the Cathedral, was wonderful. Do not go there without a hearty appetite! The whole ambience is charming, romantic with a wonderful fountain as a backdrop. Have been travelling around Nicaragua for a month and best restaurant is often bandied around. However, this is the one that lives up to the mark! The servers responded quickly to any request and the way they laid out the cutlery on beautiful linen napkins, was a very nice touch. My husband ordered the mixed platter as he is the meat king. I ordered the red snapper. Wow. Presentation was first class on both meals and, as per the title of this review, the best tasting food we have experienced since we arrived in January. Surprisingly, not really expensive either. Service was superb and cannot say more than give it a try and I am sure you will enjoy....

I loved the food and would say the place is just great. Need to get better on the service thing. Faster also.

“Great Atmosphere, Good Food, OK Service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2013

The title sums up our experience. The atmosphere was great. Interesting paintings, high ceilings, overall a pleasant place to hangout.

The food was good. Warm bread, a nice salad, good vegatables. The menu of meats was extensive, but my beef was tough. We had a vegatarian in a party that really enjoyed her meal (kind of funny for a place called Carnivoro).

The service was only OK. Drinks took a long time to arrive at the table, eventhough they were not busy.

Overall, would I go again. Definately. It makes my top 5 dinner spots in Leon.

“Bad food, bad service”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2013

the setting of the restaurant is nice enough - but our grilled pork was tough, dried-out and burnt, while the churrasco was a sad, gray barely charred thing - and the place is supposed to be about the grilled meat. the rest of the food was unmemorable. When we politely complained to the owner, she went into the kitchen and came back and "explained" that the beef had "less blood so it doesn't char that much" - she couldn't offer any explanation for the pork, except to take half the cost of that off the bill. It was New Year's Day and the waiter was in a foul mood - maybe he resented having to work instead of going to beach like the rest of town. At least the watermelon juice was good....

“Great, relaxed place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2013 via mobile

If you're looking for some great meat definitely go here! Don't try to swop stuff that's on the menu (extra rice instead of veggies for instance) though.
Pretty large portions for good prices. They don't make a problem out of staying long after you finished eating, even when you only get extra water.
