“Old Leon”
Reviewed February 23, 2013

The ruins here are not great, just a lot of walls, some sticking 4 feet out of the ground. As I say there is not a lot to see here but it is a good days outing. Many people leave here disappointed

“Small and good if you are really into ruins”
Reviewed February 6, 2013

It two local buses to get there from Leon. Pretty easy. My husband really liked it as he loves ruins. I enjoyed the walk thru the ruins and the view of the lake and volcano from atop the small hill. But I wouldn't make a special trip there unless someone in your party really likes ruins. There is a little store at the entrance to buy water and some snacks. The village surrounding the ruins is small and easy to walk to the ruins from where the bus drops you off.

“Skip it.”

Ruins are not that great. The story is cool, but the atmosphere and what is actually there....not so much.

“visit the original Leon..”
Reviewed September 10, 2012

A unique experience, did not know that the Colonial town of Leon, which most people visit is not the original Leon...
The only problem here is the heat!!! try to go either early in the morning hours or in the evening!

Filled with History, you will have lots to learn at this site. Make sure you visit th monument of Francisco Hernandez de Cordoba founder of Granada and Leon back in 1524, La Merced Church and the viewpoint of the Momotombo Volcano which means Burning Peak in the Nahuatl tongue.
