“Interesting city very hot...”
Reviewed January 11, 2012

Must see if you visit this city, also dont forget to visit Leon Viejo, and La Catedral. I also visit a farmer market (mercado) and I exchange some dollars to cordova there...its normal to do this type of transaction with locals..tips: be very careful with locals who will approach you asking for you to change them a big $500.00 cordova bill to small cordovas bills it happens to me...the bill was fake...dont do it...also dont wear any expenses jewelry or watch...dont trust nobody with your stuff....bottle of water cost you 19 cents (less than a dollar) in cordovas but a plastic bag of same water cost you 3 cents.....smart to buy one time a bottle of water them plastic bag...also ice cream will be in a plastic bag...while buying souvenirs remember the price is negotiable....its ok to bargain...not that much to see in this city of Leon anyway...I stayed for 3 days and it was enough....the city is so hot that between 12noon and 5pm you wont see that many people walking...nicaraguans are use to woke up very early in the mornign as early as 5:30am....If traveling with a budget this city offers a few hostels...I tried to rent a car but it was very expense..I dont regret it...locals transportation: buses and taxi are very cheap....enjoy your trip as I did..planning on visiting for the 2nd time in four months (June 2012).

“World heritage site”
Reviewed January 4, 2012

If you have a half day free, it is worth the trip.Because it is a WHS, it has funding to maintain it. The grounds are clean and the history is displayed. A guide is able to add more to the trip but is unnecessary . The iguanas seem to be taking over, and are digging holes in exposed foundation walls which could become a future problem. Overall it was a nice walk in a peaceful setting.
