The second I walked in the door, I felt right at home. I was given a room with two beds for a very reasonable $21 a night, and the staff (most of whom I'd never spoken to) were calling me by name on the second day. Yes, they really go out of their way to make sure guests feel welcome.
They take their cleanliness very seriously (perhaps a little on the OCD side) and with two beautiful gardens, four large hammocks, more seating/tables than you could shake a stick at, excellent live music on Friday nights and a very large restaurant menu, this is a place I would definitely recommend to anyone who's looking for a cool, fun place to call home for a while. I opted to leave a tip for the staff, and hope to see them again.
Cons: open ceilings allow a lot of noise to come in from the neighbors living next door, who like to get up at 5 AM and sing very badly to American pop music. The bed in my room was a little on the old side and it was tough to find a sleeping position where springs weren't poking into my ribs... but, as I've been regularly justifying over the last 11 weeks, "I didn't come to Nicaragua to sleep."More
