“More than just a tour.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2014

We spent basically the entire day with our guide, Anry, and kicked things off with a two hour tour and history lesson in Leon. He was extremely knowledgable, and although it was beyond hot outside, he kept things exciting for the duration of it. Afterwards we took off to Cerro Negro for some volcano boarding. Since our group was too large to fit in the van, Anry took a bunch of us in his truck (I will never turn down the opportunity to ride in the back of a pickup haha). He led the group to the top with more energy than people I know who are half his age, explained the best techniques to get the most out of our ride down and let us rip. It was a blast.. The part I failed to mention is how on our way to Cerro Negro, we stopped by a couple 'houses' owned by local families. We were able to bring gifts for the children and play a bit of soccer as well. This act of giving never felt forced upon us. After seeing all of their faces light up, it also ended up being the most fulfilling part of my day.
As far as I know, Anry is currently the sole guide of Mas Adventures. His knowledge, genuine love and sincerity towards his country made this far more than just a tour. If you're after a good time with lots of laughs, you will not be disappointed.

“Fun, knowledgeable, and well-organized guide service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2014

Anry of Mas Adventures was our guide for an afternoon kayak trip in the mangrove forest at Isla Juan Venado preserve. He was superb. As a student he had been involved with mangrove restoration and working local people to provide incentives to protect rather than just exploit the reserve, so his knowledge of mangrove ecology, conservation, and plants and birds was excellent. Anry's english is excellent, he has a great sense of fun and is good at figuring out what his clients will like - in our case it was kayaking way back into the mangroves, and getting out of the kayaks to climb around on their roots. Anry picked us up in Leon at 2, we went to his office to pay and get ready, and we were kayaking around 3:30 until shortly after dark. Fantastic sunset from the island while wading in the warmest ocean waves i've ever experienced. Expect about 5-6 hours door to door, unless you eat at the restaurant in La Penitas.

Although Leon is his home, Anry has guided throughout the entire country and is eager to organize tours throughout the Nicaragua. Despite what the non-Nicaraguan guide services will tell you, Anry actually was the first to build a volcano board and use it at Cerro Negro.

“Awesome guys!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2014

I did a volcano trip with Mas Adventures in Leon, Nicaragua. The tour really exceeded my expectations. They took me to local farms, stopped in the way to show me the different fruit trees and flowers (and try them all right from the tree), we met local families, and ended up with a hike up the volcano and sandboarding down. Enri and Eric are really knowledgeable! These guys are local and committed to their land and community and the love they have for the local nature and people shows! If you want to learn and really get a feel for the area, I absolutely recommend Mas Adventures

“Disappointing info”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2014

We wanted to do a tour to the vulcano. We went to the office in Léon for some more information. There was a girl who could only speak spanish. She did't know anything about the tours, except for the info that was on a sheet. We knew more about the tour from the website. When I asked if it was possible to go on horses, she first said 'no'. Then I said it was on the internet, then she said it was possible.
We didn't feel comfortable booking with her, so we went to another agency.

“Vocanoboarding Cerro Negro”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2014

This was an excellent tour for the price. Anry was knowledgeble, and the three in our group were the only ones on the tour. Having a small group size makes all the difference; it allowed us to take detours and see the volcano at our own pace, as well as have a more comfortable and informative trip there and back (Anry is very knowledgeble about things to do and see in Nicaragua)

Volcanoboarding itself was pretty fun!
