“Volcano Boarding”
Reviewed December 29, 2012

Didn't stay at the hostel but I walked through and it seemed very clean and friendly. We went volcano boarding which was an experience of a lifetime. The treck up was hell (took us approx. 80 minutes to get to the top) but once we got to to the top its was a breathtaking view. Seeing all the land, mountains and volcanoes was really cool. The slide down was AWSOME!!! U went so fast and it was a thrill because it was so steep! You can't scream on the way down unless u want a mouth full of rocks and ask. Haha overall I would say its worth the treachous hike!

I loved my stay at Bigfoot, the staff is amazing and so so helpful! Volcano boarding was so much fun, it's definitely a must when you're in León. The location is excellent and the hostel is very clean. Wifi is good in the main area and the Volcano Café serves good and cheap food.

The place is just awesome, very well organized and you feel like you know everyone from start to end. I've done this twice and I will do it again and again, the first time I did it with a group of friends at night, it was an amazing experience and the second time I did it with my thirteen year old, he loved it! This place is in the heart of Leon, Nicaragua. Close to Poneloya, central of Leon and night live. I recommend it! I enjoyed it a lot and met new friends from other countries wich was really nice. Tip: make sure you don't drink too many Mojitos, they are too good and you won't stop drinking.

Amazing vibe! Met tons of people from all over the world. Has a Thailand-Khao San Rd. feel, but is chill. Owners are very cool. Highly recommend. Volcano boarding and bar hopping leave from this location. Stay here if you are single and want to party.

Average hostel.
Good beds but gets a bit hot at night.
Lots of kittens and a great dog called Marley.
Tour guide, Ross, was an excellent volcano boarding host.
Good value and really good pizza.
Lovely young guy, Juan, as a bartender.
Good crowd.
Pool was little.
Cleaning ladies are super sweet and I have never been anyplace where the floor is cleaned so frequently.

Spent a few days at the Bigfoot when we were in Leon in May 2012. Clean room, affordable laundry service, lots of interesting travelers around (though it was quiet around the sleeping areas),

Cheap drinks and lots of drink/ and food specials. Great location to check out the wonderful city.

The guys at the front desk are super helpful and friendly and speak perfect English.

But this place has at least 75-100 backpackers churning through it everyday. Dorm rooms hold at least 14 people and the privates are $18 a night without private bath. That said, it's a tightly run ship and the place is kept incredibly clean considering the number of dirty people coming in and out.

Room Tip: The noise is in the front so the farther back you go the quieter it will be. The wifi is also in the...

Hi Keef
Thank you so much for your review. Also thank you for mentioning the front desk staff.. they work really hard to make sure everyone is taking care of.... and yeah our guess capacity is huge for a hostel which makes our place a perfect place to meet other travelers.
Thank you once again Keef, take care and have a safe trip
