Our double was $20 U.S. per night. Rosado, the owner makes you feel at home. The beds are comfortable - you will sleep well in this quiet place where you will enjoy the beautiful garden area.

I am a medical worker between missions and am spending a week at la Casona Colonial. Rosado, the owner, lives on the premises and could not be nicer. She speaks some English but always goes out of her way to figure out how she can help. (As I sit typing this, she brought some iced tea, no charge.) The place is small, but the rooms are nicely kept with good beds and some of the only screened windows I've seen in Nicaragua. Fans, no A/C. There is a covered, open-air sitting area with rocking chairs, a television, and lots of books. There is a great old dining table where Rosado will serve you a very good breakfast (for about $4). There is wifi in the sitting areas and the rooms. The place is spotless. Rosado and her small staff are constantly cleaning. Her staff will do laundry for 30 cordoba, about $1.50 US. No hot water, but that's usual for a place in this price range. The bathrooms are spotless. The Casona is about 4 blocks north from the main plaza, an easy 5-10 minute walk. Rosado does lock the front gate at 10pm, but she gives you a key. Its far enough out that its pretty quiet at night. My single is running $20 US /night. I highly recommend the Casona for a nice, clean, safe place in this price range.

I am here since December 2011and I intend to stay until March 2012. This hotel is calm and quiet, with a beautiful garden, where they keep turtles. The owner makes me feel as part of the family. She also supplies a lot of information concerning sites in Nicaragua . For a little extra, they serve me an excellent breakfast... as good as those I can eat in Montreal. There is a common room with Cable TV. Each room has its private bathroom, fan and WiFi; A\C is also availabe. The whole location has a colonial ambience. I strongly recommend it..

We stayed two nights and felt like the place is ours. We ate breakfast in the garden among the flowers and colibris. The owner was very friendly and helped us with tours and tips. The whole place has a very homy feeling and lots of style (for the budget place it is... 20 to 35 $ for dobble room)...The rooms are ok, some nicer than others and kind of next to each other so be carefull...because you can actually hear what is going on in the room next to you :)
It is not so centraly located as some other places but I would still preffer to stay here.
