As others have said...don't come in expecting a Holiday Inn. The Terrace is a clean, comfortable, a tad outdated, and VERY reasonably priced. Larry, the owner of the property, is a super nice guy and can make great recommendations on the Munising/Pictured Rocks area. I second (third, fourth..., twenty-fifth?) the positive comments from other reviewers about him.

One of the days we stayed there it got up to about 90 degrees, and it was still comfortable sleeping that night with no A/C, so don't let that deter you when making your lodging choice in Munising. The shower stall was small (which made it challenging to clean an 18 month old and a 3 year old), but that really wasn't a big deal for us.

We would definitely plan on staying here again if we return to the Munising area.

What a great place. TripAdvisor really helped on this vacation. Very very reasonable price, clean room with no bed bugs or any kind of bugs for that matter. Larry was very friendly and accomodating. And so were the cleaning ladies. This was our second night on our UP vacation after tent camping in Tahquamenon Falls State Park. It was nice to have a clean bed and shower. Even though there is no air conditioning, the ceiling and box fans were enough to cool the place off at night, since we weren't in the room during the day. Larry recommended a GREAT hiking trail which was probably the highlight of our trip, thank you, Larry. He even helped me with a business need that arose when I checked my email with the free wi-fi in the room.
Thank you again...at this price, I would definitely recommend it.

Stayed here for one night - 7/19/12. Great Mom and Pop type of a place that is very clean from the outside to the inside. Great place to park your head for the night in a no-frills, clean, quiet, and friendly atmosphere. Word of caution: NO A/C, but Larry (The owner) has a nice fan in each room. After all, you are in the UP of Michigan where the nighttime temperatures have been know to get quite "cool". Larry also makes a mean cup of coffee in the office in the morning. Just outside of town and Larry can make good suggestions for places to see and eat while in the area. Many waterfalls and Grand Island day trip on the short ferry ride is a MUST do thing on your list. Sadly, my visit was too short and plan to visit the area again in the Fall of 2012 for a color tour and will surely stay at the Terrace Motel.

Room Tip: Stayed in room behind the hotel (believe it was 14). Good location and overall, a very quiet comfor...

Exceptional property, as long as you know what to expect. If you prefer the unmemorable predictability of a Holiday Inn, where all rooms are alike and indisinguishable, DO NOT stay here. If you can go for a little quirky, 50's style (Knotty pine and all) motel with the world's most accommodating owner THIS is your place. The beds were a little firm, the TV and shower a little small - who cared?!? We LOVED our stay. Larry is priceless, an owner/operator who is always there as a concierge to answer questions, make restaurant recommendations, tell you the best beach for sunsets, advise about the best days to take the Pictured Rocks Cruise [don't miss this!], and show up with electric fans on the few hot days; we felt as if we'd really made a friend by the end of our 5-day stay in June, and we hope to be back soon.

I called the Terrace Motel while on the road, hoping to stay there with my dogs so I could take a kayaking trip the next day. We had been camping, so the motel would be crucial to keep them somewhere. The owner, Larry, was more than nice and understanding about it. He was fantastic! We had a perfect stay, he told us about all the places we shoukd go, and we did! I will probably go back here one day, Pictured Rocks was amazing and the Motel could not have been better.

Larry first off is a very friendly, hospitable, generous man! This is our second summer staying here. To be honest Larry and his motel are the reason we returned for a second summer! Keep up the great work Larry. We will be back!

Great place to stay! As soon as we pulled up Larry met us with a hanshake and a smile. This mans customer service goes above and beyond any place I have ever stayed in my life. He makes you feel like you are part of his family. He also has some great stories to tell so if you have time to chat I would highly reccomend it. The rooms were very clean and it is in a great area. I would reccomend it to everyone I know.
