We went to this restaurant looking for some local flavor. We saw a seat yourself sign and tried to find a table. No luck. No hostess, just three useless waitresses ignoring us for ten minutes. Finally gave up and left after one waitress explained there's no hostess, just three waitresses.

Horrible service even before ordering or getting food.

Do not go there!!!

Not sure why so many harsh reviews of this place - its not the Taj Mahal by any stretch, but then again its not trying to be either. We went around 8pm on a weeknight and were grateful for some warm, tasty comfort-style food after a long day of hiking in nearby Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.

I thought the service was good, which may have been due to our being one of very few tables (we were the last to leave), but our server did give us some delectable cherry cobbler and ice cream in to-go containers and was very quiet but attentive.

The food was also just fine. I had the open-faced steak sandwich which was juicy and tender, while my wife had the fish, which was good as well. Another in our group had a roast beef - no problems. Salad bar was fresh and good - somewhat limited, but plenty of selection for the type of restaurant. All in all, a tad pricey but acceptable nonetheless - $50/couple including drinks and desert.

Overall it was a satisfactory experience - not extraordinary, just a good local restaurant. I think that if you go in with no expectations you'll find that to be the case as well.

While the decor is cute if tacky, the food leaves a lot to be desired. I am almost certain the pizza was a frozen one and if it wasn't, it tasted like one. The hamburger was dry and tasteless. At an adjoining table a diner had ordered a med-rare steak and got shoe leather. There are better choices in Munising.

I was skeptical fo this restaurant because of the reviews. But for breakfast it was great, food and service was exceptional...
