Sat at the bar for a few drinks, and the guy behind the bar was very personable. Sat at a table and we turned invisible. I had to personally ask to be served. From start to finish, our dinner took 1 hour 45 minutes. The Buckhorn Burger was fantastic.

Food was ok. Kids ordered burgers and loved them. Spouse got the salad bar. it was mediocre. I got the pork sandwich. Don't.

My family has been coming to this restaurant in the woods since it was built, yes I mean the original section around the bar -one family member has even laid claim to picking rocks for the fireplace! The setting is rustic and beautiful. The original footprint of the bar is quaint and full of local history. Over the years in a small town the 'go to' spot changes with new ownership, management and/or cooks but the Buckhorn will always draw us all back when we visit.

This visit included the salad bar which was limited to lettuce, some chopped veggies, cheese and croutons. It worked. My husband ordered the standby, perch and it was very good. My broiled whitefish must have been cooked hours prior and left under a warming light as it was dried out and crusty, and not in a good way. Mother said her broasted chicken was also very good. The burgers were fine, according to the rest of the family.

It wasn't all about the food, it was about being with family and friends breaking bread together in the woods that has held our family for more than 60 years.

Loved the Buckhorn Burger, the food was great but the waitress was not. It was as if we had interrupted her social hour with the people at the bar. We felt rushed, and never returned to see if we needed anything else just dropped off the bill! What was one to do.... Order another round and have her bring another bill!

Very nice view overlooking a beautiful lake. A quaint and warm-feeling place.
Whitefish is excellent, but the cod was fishy tasting. Reasonable prices.
It is out-of-the-way and definitely off the 'beaten path'.
