Pictured rocks is a must see if you are in the Munising area. They provide a breathtaking backdrop to magnificent Lake Superior. I rented a large pontoon last week while on family vacation, we had three families and Superior guaranteed that the pontoon was big enough even though they struggled to find us life jackets that fit everyone- especially the six children. Superior warned that it was "windy" gave us instructions and off we went! The pontoons were low in the water as we took off but we had an experienced boater at the helm. We were gone less than 15 minutes when the entire front of the pontoon went into Lake Superior and everyone sitting up front was up to their knees in water. The captain quickly threw the motor in reverse and we leveled out, though this made for a stressful journey. We continued out to Pictured Rocks though waves constantly crashed over the boat while it rocked against the waves. We ended up returning 2 hours early. We were quoted $170 for a 5 hour rental plus gas. We turned it in early and they argued with me about an additional $20 for the "large" pontoon. I was dismayed at their poor customer service and disregard for our safety or happiness. They actually said, "You should have taken the Glass Bottom Boat Tour". I have to say, I agree and you should too. Take the Glass Bottom Boat, don't use Superior Pontoon Rental!
