Wonderful area, the sandstones are so amazing that it is hard to believe they are true. I would suggest hiking the Chapel rock trail, it takes almost 3-4 hours (including taking a lot pictures and hanging out 20 minutes in the beach) and it is definitely worth for it. Just be aware of mosquitos, they are annoying if you go there in the season -which is from the beginning of june to end of july-

What is not to like about this, it is nature at its best, God's Country!
Pristine beaches and water, majestic waterfalls, and let us not forget the abundance of mosquitoes!!

I both hiked and kayaked at Pictured Rocks. Definitely the highlight of my trip. I was stunned and amazed by the incredible natural beauty of this site. Hiking above is great but you have to be fit and be very careful near the overlooks. The ground is sandy and could give way. But you really need to be in a Kayak to see the real Pictured Rocks. I went with Northern Waters in the Kayaks and got to see the great sea caves and minerals on the cliff faces as well as waterfalls. It's like a natural abstract painting on the cliff face. Should leave you awed! The beaches are pristine and the water clear and refreshingly cool. One of the most amazing times of my life.

Must see. Allow three hours for the informative tour. Dress warmer than what you think you need to. It is about 20 degrees colder out on the water.
