We stayed for five nights in July. The downside - it's a tuk tuk ride from the beach, they couldn't offer a laundry service and the bathrooms are poor (working but run-down - how does a bath become spongy!?). However, it's a lovely hotel with a very nice pool area and it provided a good break from the beach. Many of the staff struggle speaking English except for Leonard who was a star. He was responsible for managing an attentive waiting team but also gave us tips about the area and the next stop on our holiday. (We hope the management appreciate his contribution). The food was pretty good and reasonably priced. They do not service the rooms every day (which is surely more environmentally acceptable) but will when asked. This was a good choice for us as we accessed the trips from the beach area but came back to a quiet, non-sandy oasis at the end of the day.

Really lovely setting would deffinatley recommend, but be aware its a tuk tuk ride away from the beach. There was air con and fans in the room and buffet breakfast offered each morning for £2.50. Great value for money, our stay only cost £10 for two nights

After we've stayed at a lot cheaper and more simple accommodations in Sri Lanka, this one made for a nice change. Rooms are clean and spacious with AC, the pool was nice and the whole resort is quite beautiful with a lot of plants. However for 65 USD a night there's still a lot that they should improve.
There is no wall between shower and toilet (like in most places in Sri Lanka) and since the drain is on the other side of the bathroom (why??) you set the whole place under water when taking a shower. There were also a lot of hair around the drain... No house keeping during our three days stay - we had to go to the reception and ask for more toilet paper... There are deck chairs but no sun umbrellas by the pool.
Better not take a room close to the pool since there's a rooster around that woke us up at the crack of dawn every morning.
We had dinner at the restaurant once but can't really recommend it. Vegetable kotthu was only 300 rupies but very dry.
Quite far from the beach. We went by foot once but ended up walking through a slum. Wasn't dangerous but a bit uncomfortable cause you can tell from the people's reaction that they haven't seen many tourists yet. So you're kind of their attraction while walking through and everyone wants to say hi and shake hands. To avoid that you better take a tuktuk to the beach - for example to Fernandos Bar where there's a more touristic area.

Room Tip: Better not take a room close to the pool since there's a rooster around that woke us up at the crack of dawn every morning.

The hotel is just wonderful, the atmosphere is magnetic, I stayed there for couple of days-definitely will stay again.
Everything-environment, stuff, I enjoyed very much. Though rooms are small, but for me it was the very good size, for business travelers is the ideal place to stay.

We stayed one night in this hotel because we got sunburned and did not feel well. We wanted to stay out of the sun for a day. And a day at JKAB is perfect for that. Nice air-conditioned rooms with TV. Good, reasonably priced food and very friendly staff. The bathroom was clean but could use some work.
