This is a famous temple of lord Shiva with a big statutes of Shiva. Good devotional crowds can be seen and the view of Trinco is spectacular from the temple.

THe history of this temple dates back to 205 B.C and there is so much history to this temple. It was great feeling to finally visit a place about which i had learned a lot in the past. Definitely worth it. This temple is a hindu pilgrimage place.

Koneswaran Kovil is located about 2km away from Trincomalee town inside the Fort Frederick by the sea. It is a Hindu Temple dedicated to "God Shiva". There is a huge statue of the god infront of the temple which reminded me the " Batu Caves" in Malaysia. However, This statue is in sitting position while Batu Caves statue is in standing position.
The Kovil is build on top of a rock which is called "Swami Rock" also well known as the "Lovers Slip".
The scenery from here is breath taking. Of course I think it is a must visit place when you are in Sri Lanka.
