We spent one night in this hotel with my wife and little angel...This immaculately presented hotel of Trincomalee in a peaceful lagoon side location. Guests can enjoy the pristine swimming pool and dine at the exceptional hotel restaurant (Western food is the star here but also do very good si lankan menu). Attention to detail is second to none- from welcome drinks on arrival and attentive waiting service from friendly staff.. highly recommended.... i will come back definitely....

If you are looking for a comfortable beach hotel while in Trincomalee, arguably this is as good as it gets!!

I am biased towards beach accommodations and so I can relax in most hotels as long as I have a nice and safe beach to walk on.

The rooms are nice, the bathrooms are a little dirty and so the management could ensure that the staff are trained to notice such thigns and even use some bleach to clean the bathroom floor and give it a nice clean look and feel.

There was a good selection of food when we were there and even the staff were pleasant to deal with. The F&B Manager of the hotel was nice enough to make sure we were given something special as there was an issue when we went to The Crab restaurant for dinner - basically, most of the dishes on the menu were not available so this was a little more than just frustrating, but he made an effort to show that the hotel cared. I will definitely go back should I visit Trinco.

We came for the second time in this hotel. It is really a topper in Sri Lanka. The rooms are beautiful and have all a sea view. The bathroom is unique, the shower is in fact outside, no roof above your head. A private terrace makes the rooms complete.
The restaurant is also from a very good quality. A lot of good sea food can you choose in the crab, a small restaurant on the beach, fantastic!
All the personnel is helpful and very friendly.
This hotel is your visit worth!

Our party of four spent two nights at this hotel, our first visit to the East coast of Sri Lanka. The beach is gorgeous, huge and wide, but there's too much litter on it! The excellent boatman Vadara will take you for rides and snorkelling and was well worthwhile. The welcome at the hotel was very friendly and efficient and the staff generally helpful, though less attentive in the bar and restaurant than we had expected. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the bathrooms in good order. It was good to have a 'private' balcony leading directly to the garden, pool and beach. The restaurant was very good but not outstanding, but was spoiled for us by excessively loud music, especially and quite unnecessarily, at breakfast. We ate at nearby beach places also, which were more fun. We enjoyed our stay very much and the only serious downside of the place is that it was not good value for money - almost $200 per room for B&B is way above what we have paid in other areas and in better places.

Room Tip: The rooms on the ground floor seem all to have garden access and must therefore be the more desirabl...

My family and I travelled around Sri Lanka with a driver and we loved staying at this hotel during my time at Trinco.
Staff - The staff were really friendly.
Rooms - The rooms were so clean.
Food - The food was amazing - breakfast was similar to the other Cinnamon hotels, there was a huge variety (hoppers, curries, fruit, cereals) and all very tasty!
Pool - The pool was really nice and clean.
Beach - The beach was clean and was not polluted although if you head North the beach becomes dirty and full of garbage but the resort side was spectacular.

I highly recommend it for travellers with families and couples!

If you are looking for a relaxing holiday in the sun by the sea, then the Chaaya Blu makes an ideal choice. The hotel enjoys a wide beach-front location at Uppuveli, 3 miles north of Trincomalee. The staff is helpful and friendly, always keen to please. The buffet-style meals offer a good range of dishes served in the restaurant, and there is a pleasant sea-front bar that sells a wide variety of cocktails. The local arrack-based ones are cheap and well worth trying. Accommodation is practical for the location of the hotel, and the beach chalets are spacious and have excellent sea views. Uppuveli beach is a long, sweeping stretch of sand that has the potential to be up there with the best, but the Chaaya Blu is one of very few, if not the only one, of the hotels and businesses along the beach that bothers to clean up the litter and rubbish that gets washed in on the tide. The hotel's sea frontage is cleaned just after high-tide each day. However, venture beyond the hotel and what you see is a depressing indictment of the disposable, plastic-obsessed society in which we live, and this is a significant stain on the potentially stunning aspect of this stretch of coastline. If post-war Trincomalee has aspirations to become a major player in beach holidays, then it needs to wake up and clean up!

Room Tip: It's worth paying the extra for a beach chalet.
