We had two rooms, they were okay. We stayed for six nights, and enjoyed the beach. The food at the beach restaurant was good and the staff were very helpful. A smile is worth a million to them, remember that they get little money for 12 - 14 hour at work, so smile and give them tips.
Remember to walk to Trinco, and walk by the sea, walk to the small tamil fishing village, and don't forget to play beachvolley with the staff members - they are super. Ask for a diving trip to the rock near Trinco, and ask the poor fishermen, they can provide you with the boot and everything - and they get the money, not the hotel owners. They are all tamils and very poor.

We came to Uppuveli on Friday afternoon when everything looked to be booked out. The lady (probably the owner) in Shiva`s resort was trying to find some place for us to stay at, however what appeared as a friendliness at first sight turned to be a nightmare...lady was running around, behaving as insane, talking without any sense and finally said that she has no place in her guesthouse and we have to go to different place, which was approximately 200m away. After arrival she has shown us the most dirty and filthy room I`ve ever seen and said: Normally we ask for Rs 3,000 but as there is no A/C Rs 2,500...Yes, we walked away and did not even stay...Btw I`ve seen the room in her GH as well and it was very basic plus the bathroom was not clean at all. Typical example of the owner who wants to become a millionaire in a month time - charge above average and provide service under average - no value for money at all
