Worth the day trip from Seoul. The near by Palace is okay but the fortress is the highlight. I walked the entire length of the wall and the scenery and photo opportunities were fabulous. For the lazy you can take the inexpensive train thingy if you prefer. Either way, its a nice attraction to visit.

Lovely and well developed, this is an excellent place to learn some of Korea's long history, see beautiful natural surroundings, and get a lot of exercise all at the same time. It is not so strenuous that it can't be enjoyed by all ages, and it also wasn't as (over) commercialized as so many things are in Korea. Really enjoyed this one, and expect to see more of it soon. It was also very reasonably priced!

The fortifications are vast. It will take a few hours to walk round along the walls. It is quite an exercise as a big part of it is a hill. But the areas have been nicely done up, so it is very pleasant, though the ugly modern Suwon skyline is always around everywhere. Most of the buildings have been rebuilt but it is nicely done. The originals are not really very old to start with, just over 200 years old. You can get to Suwon on the Seoul metro. From Suwon station, it is a 30-minute walk across the city centre, or you can take a bus. There are many.

A must visit. If you're staying in Seoul and want to go where not a lot of tourists go to, this is the place. It is worth the trip. It's historical and architecturally beautiful. The long walk around the fortress is a lot of work but it's okay because there is a lot to see outside the fortress. Was walking around the fortress around sunset and the setting sun was just so beautiful and relaxing to see.

Hwaseong Fortress is one of unique historical facilities in Suwon City.
Actually it's not so majestic and splendid but worthy of a visit to feel historical mood of Korean old fortress. And this site is very good for a walk because of it's beautiful scenery.
