“Felicia's Kitchen: Regular stop for dinner when traveling from Ilocos to Manila”
Reviewed June 6, 2013

We have eaten at Felicia's Kitchen in Grandpa's Inn on a number of occasions, and have yet to be disappointed. They have an extensive menu, including from the grill across the street from the Inn. The menu contains staple Filippino fare, as well as exotic regional delicacies such as Mountain Ant Adobo, wild boar Tapa, and a number of other dishes (I have tried almost everything except the Ant Adobo...).

The service is generally very good, and the atmosphere is homey and comfortable. It is very child friendly, and attracts a number of local regulars as well.

Grandpa's Inn may not be your high-end hotel but this place provides a very nice Ilocandia solace. Not the cheapest in Vigan but very reasonable. After all, why look for expensive ones if you'd spend the entire day out touring the little city. I spent two days in Vigan paying ONLY roughly around Php1,500 for a two-day-one-night stay (inclusive of breakfast). I went with a friend, meaning each of us had a share of Php750 for an air-conditioned room: with TV, hot and cold shower, and a dresser/cabinet. Tell me that's not affordable! If vacationing can't get you off your gadgets, Grandpa's Inn has free wifi. Made my reservation over phone. And because they did not require me for downpayment, I just had to confirm our stay a week before the reserved date. Room is clean, staff are nice, and the inn is only few blocks away from the "Heritage Street". A great experience indeed. I'd personally recommend Grandpa's Inn. Give it a try. You also might want to indulge in a gastronomical experience - choose from their two restos.

Due to its vintage décor Grandpa's Inn is a bit like staying in a museum. I stayed for 2 nights in room 1 on the first floor. Although, the room was good enough for 1 person it was a bit on the small side. The bathroom was very small and would be a tight squeeze for large person. The room had rack for hanging cloths, a dressing table with mirror and a chair. Everything was clean and worked (eg.water heater, A/C and flat screen TV). A set Filipino breakfast is included in the room price, however, a credit is given if you converted to a Western breakfast. The WiFi is free but a bit flacky. The hotel is in a good location and is recommend for a short stay.

Despite the musty vintage decor that hangs within the cavernous halls of this restored Commonwealth-era building, the rooms are clean, comfy, and well-appointed. Both on-site restaurants (Cafe Uno and Felicia's Kitchen) are top-notch. The staff are knowledgeable and accommodating; they even helped with my last-minute request for a rented van, after a sudden change of plans. The location is not exactly central but it's a reasonable walk to Calle Crisologo and the town square.

We visited Vigan in 2012 and stayed at Grandpa's Inn. Best location - very near to Calle Crisologo. The room that we got is good for 2 but 3 people can share since the bed is quite big for 1 person. A deluxe room costs 1500/night, which I believe cheaper than other hotels in Vigan. Clean rooms. Water heater and A/C worked well. The bathroom is quite spacious. The room we got has a 21-inch TV. There is an issue though. The wall is made of wood and you can hear the peeps on the other room. But since we were always tired of the day's activities, it was never a big concern. They also serve delicious breakfast at their cafe for an affordable price.

Room Tip: You may want to request for a room located on the corner, I believe it is bigger.

Finding the cheapest hotel to stay in Vigan was quite a challenge.
I came across blog after blog and saw most of them stayed with Grandpa's Inn.
The Inn doubles as a vintage collector's haven plus some artworks of great landmarks around Ilocos region.

The room is clean (and smells clean :)).
The room have good air condition, clean bathroom, and i love the high ceiling.

At the lobby, you can find few restaurants that can take care of your hungry stomach.

If you love authentic local food that is the place to be....if you don't that is the place to be....this old family house transformed in inn is offering three styles of cuisine, continental in Cafe Uno, Ilocano BBQ in Uno Grill and local food in Felicia's kitchen....it is cheap, simple and good quality....
The rooms are old style Spanish in wood...so a bit noisy....but again it is very affordable and close to the plaza and Cathedral.
We stay in Calesa room...very charming theme as the beds are build inside the Calesa....
The hotel have great character and the staff compensed lack of experience by a charming personality
