Muktinath temple is one of significant holy place for Hindus & Buddhist. It lies in Mustang region, north-west of Nepal. You can reach Jomsom by flight & drive from Pokhara and then again you will have option of trekking or driving to Muktinath temple. Specially, trekkers prefer walking with short trek program around lower Mustang region, while the pilgrims (especially Indian nationals or who have limited time) will take adventure ride over the edge of hills. As per Hindu religion, it is believe that one will be free from all sorrows & sins of his life if you visit this sacred place once. As well as, this place is also famous for Saligram (the sacred stone found in Gandaki river, as the incarnation of lord Vishnu). Moreover, it is also incredible place to experience the glimpse of Tibetan landscape with its typical lifestyle & cultures as well as you will not miss to admire the magnificent view of Dhaulagiri & Nilgiri Mountains seen close to you.

Spectacular scenery-High mountains:
I hiked from Mutinath to Jomson. Downhill all the way. Completerd in 3 hours:
Try and leave in the early morning as the afternoon winds blowing up the Kali Gandaki gorge can be painful.

It would be a stretch to say I trekked it but I did get out of the jeep often. A few times to push our vehicle, a number more times while we were stuck behind a local bus which was trying valiantly to navigate a slick and muddy slope, a number more times to grab a bite or to pee.

There was not a trace of asphalt after the first few miles and to call it a road is an oxymoron. It was not the bumpiest road I’ve ever been on (Llasa to the Nepal border is the winner) nor the most narrow and precipitous (many roads in Uttarakhand state in India) but it was bone jarring and long. It was also scenic and fascinating.

The road leads from Pokhara to Jomsom. It takes the better part of a day, eleven hours for my jeep. A second jeep (on the next day) is necessary to drive to Muktinath. I did trek that part of the route from Muktinath to Jomsom, a lovely picturesque and downhill jaunt that took 9 hours but with many stops for photos and to wander through the charming towns of Jharkot and Kagbeni.

Muktinath, One of the holy, attractive place where thousands of people visit every year.
In last October i have been there with my group. I have been in Muktinath more than 100 times, but i feel better every time. Muktinath is Hindu Temple and Buddhist Gompa in in place. And one of the most interesting this is there in Muktinath, Lady priest from Buddhist religion in Hindu Temple. This is only one Temple you can find lady priest in Hindu Temple all around the world.

This trek is fairly easy to walk, it gently follows up a river valley most of the way, jet has spectacular scenery, you will walk through ancient villages & past monastries to finally after 4-5 days at the foothill of the mountains find this incredible temple.
The experience was adventurous, yet gentle & not very strenuous. I would recommend it for family with children also.
