“Professional service from JMR”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

We had booked (and paid)at Jomsom Moutain Resort in mid Sept. unfortunately planes were not flying to Jomsom from pokhara due to bad weather. We had to cancel out booking and JMR management (Arvind in Kathmandu) went out of his way to meet me and refund in full without fuss or bother. No doubt iwhen we return we will book at JMR. Mani

For a five star, which it pretends to be (at least the prices are 5 stars hotel's prices), it is unconceivebable to have to come from the airport and go to the airport with a cattle truck ! this is the only vehicle the hotel is proposing to his guests, even if you want to have VIP treatment...
The room are clean but if you want some heater at night, you have to agree to stay awake all night as these are radiant heaters.

The staff is very welcoming and ready for fulfillment of any requirment if pssiible .It is well equipped hotel with facilities needed at such a heavy windy and cold place. Very nicely built and very different to enjoy n experience the stay. One can have whole View of Annapurna ranges and view is out of this world n beyond expectation. But a totally out from the very very very small jomsom town or say market area only............food is very very nice as far as indian veg. food is concerned as well as not costly also. The best part is that they use tractor to take u to the hotel....

I don't know how come they claim it to be a 5 star property. If you check the photographs (attached) it looks like a 18th century ghost-house! Although rooms are properly maintained. Cleaniness is okay. The complete hotel is built out of stone , so if you are comparing it with any of the five star property in any standard city, you will be disappointed. The hotel is around 100m above Jomsom market/airport. As already shared by other travellers you will be transported to hotel by a customized tractor. No complaint here. If your plan is to only stay in the hotel then its not an issue but if you wants to come down to market they charges around 30 USD per trip to market. So be ready to walk a lot ( 45 minutes walking/trekking each side!). Of course the prices be it room charges, food , mineral water are at par or little more than any of the 5 star property in Kathmandu. ((e.g. 1 bottle of mineral water bottle is charged $ 2 here) . Only positive is that staff are friendly and helpful and service is excellent. The staff will prepare food accordingly your choice and likingness. This is the only positive that I can say about this hotel. If you ask me to consider staying here next time , my answer will be straight 'NO'. There are (plenty-don't worry) hotels /accomodations availalble in the Jomsom market , just outside Airport. Another thing I forgot to mention - they don't accept credit/debit card, so when you are travelling from PKR make sure to travel with lots of cash! Although there is one/two ATM m/c in the market, these also don't work during power cut (to clarify there is normally 10-14 hours powe cut in a day except rainy season). Second thing there is no 3 pin socket in the room (all are 2 pin sockets, don't know why so!) so I got my camera battery charged in the reception area and I could not use my laptop!

Room Tip: All rooms are similar with view of the majestic Nilgiri peak. So don't worry , most probably you...

We booked for 3 nights, but left after 2. We were the only guests other than a young family staying at this huge empty and neglected prison like fortress, making it very uncomfortable. Though the staff was accomodating, we couldn't get out of Jomson fast enough. The area is barren, with high winds and sand storms each afternoon. Much of the hotel was unfinished, hallways dark and scary, amenities nonexistent. Though the rooms were clean and comfortable, the extremely remote location, along with nothing to do. After 2 days of hiking, we couldn't get back to Pokara fast enough. We travelled India and Nepal 5 months, with many bizarre and fascinating accomodations, but this was the one we will always remember and never need to return to.

We landed at Jomsom airport and were shocked to find that we had been sent a customised tractor as a pick up vehicle. Further the driver kept driving past the small village and over to no-man's land. Till then people kept telling us we are to stay at the only 5 Star property in Jomsom, Nepal, and what we were going through was far from it.. only until we sighted the property.
Set atop the Himalayan ranges, with a beautiful view of the snow capped Nilgiri ranges of the Himalayas, the Jomsom Mountain Resort is a lovely place to stay in Jomsom. The staff are very friendly and helpful and this is a great place to rest your feet after the tiring trek to Muktinath.
The heating in the rooms is sufficient for summer travel, but might need to be better in other seasons. But the natural and rustic decor lends a laid back feel to the place.

Jomsom itself is a hotel accommodation in 'thin air' at 3,200 metres altitude - and the Hotel another steep climb 200 feet. Huge stone construction in the middle of 'nowhere', the location is awesome - direct window view of the Nilgiri snow-peaks from our room. No lift - Reception staff helpful. We found poor room heating - and running hot water - just not available during our one day/night stay -en route and return to Muktinath. Its most unique vehicle for ''transfers'' to/from Airport has to be seen and experienced to be believed! A tractor with an attached Metal Sheet large wagon as its trailer - if you any orthopedic problems DO NOT sit in this vehicle. (See attached photo of the wagon.). The hotel is about the best that you can get in Jomsom I guess. So if I went there again, I suppose that's where I would stay,
