City view was fully booked when we arrived in town but they helped us find a cheap decent guesthouse near by. They also gave us information and a trekking map for the area. Tansen is a beautiful town and perfect for a 2 night stay. Highly recommend staying here if you are passing though from or towards the Indian border.

Tansen is a small, beautiful town in Nepal. Situated between Pokhara and Lumbini, its the perfect place to stop for few days and relax in this quiet and charming place. The City View Home Stay offers more then just the comfort needed after long travels. The owner, Mr Man Mohan has all information you might need for Tansen and surrounding areas. I was looking to visit the temples in Ridi and Resunga (near Thangas). Those place have not seen a lot of foreign visitors, especially women travelling alone. Mr Man Mohan personally made inquiries in the places I wanted to visit, offered me the information I could have not find anywhere, wrote letters for me to carry in need and gave me contacts. In Thangas he put me in contact with the Tourism Board and so I managed to visit one of the most beautiful places in Nepal.

Don't forget to ask him about the best places to eat: momos, dal bhat and local recipe of duck. Also, the morning snacks and chai make you forget to leave Tansen:-)

this is a really nice place to stay! rooms are basic but good and clean (all with shared bathroom but there is 24h hot water in one of the toilets), costing around 400-500 rs. they also have wifi with a good connection on the first floors and can provide some food on request. you can sit on the nice roof top terrace and enjoy the view over tansen streets. but the true value of this homestay are mr. manmohan and his family, always welcoming and willing to help. they run the local tourist information office and will give you plenty of info about palpa and the surroundings, including maps and brochures of the main spots, excellent advice for lovely hiking and much more. besides palpa is one of the most amazing places to visit in nepal!

We had read about this place from the Lonely Planet, and despite the long walk uphill, it was TOTALLY worth it! We had the loveliest room which was on the top floor and overlooked the whole of Tansen. But the best part of this place is Mon Mohan and his daughters!

Mon Mohan also runs an Information Centre out of the bottom of the guesthouse, where he can provide detail maps about different walks in the area, a visit to the nearby Organic Coffee Farm, or just general things to do around Tansen. Mon Mohan himself, is warm and friendly and is full of fun and lively stories, and his two daughters are as lovely as lovely can be, and they make the most amazing tea EVER!

Loved this place! It is a proper home stay (which may be a bit rustic for some), but perhaps one of my favourite spots during my 4 weeks in Nepal!

Although not available on arrival in Tansen the proprietor helped arranged another 'home stay' and then provided a room for the following two nights. The City View Home Stay is high up in the city overlooking the hills and valley below.
The room was a good size with small outside balcony. There was two beds, sofa and shelves integral to the room. It was a traditional design with pleasant decor. Plumbing was well maintained and the hot water was as good as it gets. There is an excellent roof garden offering wonderful views down onto the city which stretches below. Prices are very good. Although labelled homestay it provides simple room lodging from open stairs and good bathroom facilities. Perfect for travellers and providing good privacy. I would have stayed longer if the room had been available. The dedicated owner provides tourist information and help from a well established office on the ground floor.
I recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment. It is the place to stay in Tansen.

We traveled for days by car through India and then into Nepal and on our way came through the surprising, charming town of Tansen in Palpa, Nepal. We stayed the first night at White Lake hotel, but after visiting Sir Man Mohan, the local tourism director, we decided to stay at his lovely home instead. It was spacious, comfortable, cozy and homey. Man Mohan is an excellent host and the views from his 8 room home are the best in Tansen. You will see the town below and the "white lake" of fog that rolls into he valley and right downstairs is Man Mohan's office where he will give you the best directions for amazing walks in the hills to view the Himalayas and the wonderful surrounding villages. We were going to stay for one night, but we loved Home Stay so much we stayed for 3! Affordable? How's $6 a night?!?! Go and embrace the lovely town and people of Tansen, you will want to stay a lifetime.

Room Tip: We only saw the one room we stayed in, a spacious room with 2 beds for 2 people with plenty of windo...

Quiet, clean, friendly and comfortable place, with a Newari influence. The host (Man Mohan)speaks great English and runs the local tourist information centre, and can help with all things travel related in the area and beyond. Hot water is available 24/7 through a gas heating system, in a shared bathroom. We ate breakfast and dinner at the homestay - they are excellent cooks, and at a cheap price. It was hard to contact, no contact details listed online. They can be contacted on 9847028885. Peaceful and great views. Wifi was great, strong connection, with few power cuts in January. I will be back!
