We stayed at this hotel in late January 2012. Although trip advisor has the hotel listed in Kathmandu it is actually in Lumbini (just the mailing address is Kathmandu). The hotel consists of 8 or so free standing buildings with thatched roofs. Each building has two separate rooms. The rooms are large with wood beamed ceilings and clean, well maintained bathrooms. Each also has a front deck with lounge chairs. The hotel is surrounded by farm and park land so it is very quiet. There is a restaurant building which has a limited menu but the food is good and inexpensive. The hotel is not within easy walking distance to the Buddha Gardens but you can get there within 5 minutes by car. Also, there are no shops or restaurants nearby the hotel.
In all the rooms are a good size, clean and well cared for. The staff are friendly and the location is very quiet and relaxing. We would recommend to anyone who doesn't need to be within walking distance of the sites, restaurants or shops.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Lumbini Buddha Garden is a quiet and tranquil resort close to the birthplace of Lord Buddha, at Lumbini in south-central Nepal. The garden boasts a private haven of tranquility surrounding the resort, in a sense a spiritual ‘buffer zone’ from the outside world for visiting tourists. The Lumbini Buddha Garden is set in a natural environment so that, during a stay, our guests feel that they are living in true harmony with nature. ... more less
