What a lovely little cafe to find in Bhaktapur! There is a lovely little court yard to sit in, the staff very friendly and the muffins are to die for! A little taste if heaven when you are fed up of eating rice and noodles!

I was looking for a café in Bhaktapur, and found a perfect little place right at the Dattatraya Square. Himalayan Bakery is located within Peacock Guest House. I sat at a table on the highest floor facing a courtyard, relaxed and enjoyed a cup of very good tea while marveling at the Newari Architecture. They also provided me good WiFi at free of charge.

The building is one of the Maths (Residential Mansions) still standing at this oldest square of Bhaktapur, and it also includes Himalayan Wood Carving Masterpieces Workshop.

If you are tired of walking around and want to take a break with tea/coffee and baked goods, this is an excellent place.

The muffin and coffee there is excellent. The price is competitive as well. Should try and stay at their hotel also.

Cute little cafe serving hot drinks and muffins. There is a display of the muffins available on the day- usually at least 9 varieties are available including apple & walnut, banana, chocolate & banana, chocolate cinnamon, spiced pumpkin...mmmm! My husband proudly proclaims he ate at least one of each variety during our two night stay at the Peacock Guesthouse!

They have a good selection of teas on offer, and coffee too. I think I saw mention of a pizza on the mini menu too.

The cafe itself is hidden away off Dattatreya Square, inside the entrance to the Peacock Guesthouse and the wood carving studio, and adjoins a cute little courtyard where you can watch the carvers in action whilst you munch on their delicious banana muffin and a glass of rose tea!

The owners are really helpful and speak great English. They also run the Peacock Guesthouse, which is a really great little hotel; stylish, full of character and traditional features, with an almost boutique feel to it. Much nicer and quieter that the guest houses down near Durbar Square.

All in all, a great place to come if you're looking for a Western style snack, a break from the scooter horns and sellers of the streets of Bhaktapur.

We'll definitely return for more muffins and just to say hi and thanks to the owners!
