A nice place but ruined because of the earthquake in 2015. Enjoy the shopping in the small shops around the square especially painting, metal pots and bells.

Bhakthapur is known as Hhwopa in local Nepali Language. The cultural Capital of Nepal ,its history goes back to Eighth Century. Recognising this Bhkhtapur Durbar Square was enlisted as a world Heritage site in 1979. The Earth Quake in 2015 caused extensive damage to it.Bhkthapur Durbar Square is the main Square of the city and is aconglomeration of Stone Art ,Metal Art and Wood Carving.,and Terracota art and architectural Showpieces. The Golden Gate,The Palace of 55 windows, the Big Bell,Octogonal Structure,"chyasi Mandap"are main attractions to see. Though in ruins you can imagine the cultural Heritage when you visit.

Like all other squares in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur also has one. Actually, you are allowed to visit a part of Bhaktapur upon payment of a fee. Durbar square looks beautiful with its wooden carvings and sculptures surrounded by temples but it in ruins right now coz of the devastating earthquake. It still is a must visit place.

Worth visiting for absolutely fantastic intricate wooden carvings and architecture. You would be transported back to 1000 years back. Recovering from the earthquake damage. Yet worth visiting. Don't miss the mysterious side allays of this historic town and also the delicious' JuJu dhoy' or the local sweet curd ( yogurt).

Many people who visit Kathmandu do not go to Bhaktapur. Which is a big loss. Bhaktapur is full of history and activities. When you are in Nepal, it is a must go.
