It’s my last day here at Heritage Hotel and wanted to write something about it. I usually stay at Dwarika’s Hotel but this time around I decided to stay at Bhaktapur and choose Heritage. Wow! What a great place this is. It is intimate and smaller in size but no different than Dwarikas, actually it can be called mini Dwarikas. It is one of the best hotel I have ever stayed at and is a real treat to stay here.
As I entered the hotel, I was welcomed in traditional Nepali style. The passage and the stairs are beautifully designed with bricks from 19th century. I have this unique huge room overlooking a beautiful field with farmers working and historic river. I really liked the large bathroom with stone walls. I could see the real local life of Bhaktapur where farmers were working in fields from my room. It is beautifully decorated with restored 19th century bricks and antique woods. All the furniture in the room are made out of old restored crafted woods and local materials. The hotel has wonderful interiors and exteriors giving a Nepalese feel.
As I did not find good restaurants in Bhaktapur, I decided to have my dinner at Kutumba Restaurant and beautiful rooftop terrace at hotel for three nights. It has fantastic décor with great food with top class personalized service. I guess this is probably one of the best places to dine in Nepal. As the hotel had just come into operations 5 months ago, the place was not too crowded.
I had a chance to meet the owner’s son (Zenit) who is looking after hotel. He makes you a friend straight away. He was really kind to show me around. He also showed me photos of making of the hotel and told about their future plans. It was amazing to know that it took almost seven years to build the hotel and it showed.
I will miss this place, food and the people here. Thank You all!!
I look forward to return in this great place and would definitely like to recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to get away from hustle and bustle of Kathmandu and want to experience something different and get real feel of Nepalese cultural heritage.
