Hoshisuna is a nice beach. It is a nice place to snorkel and relax some. I imagine if you go out pretty far you could see some really nice activity. However, I would recommend taking a trip to funuaki for some snorkeling.
Beatiful place, well worth a visit. The sand really is star-shaped, and there's some lovely coral. Great icecream (and all kinds of snorkling gear) can be bought at the restaurant of Pension Hoshinosuna (very close to the beach).
Grab a snorkel, mask and if you have one, a GoPro and enjoy the marvellous sights underwater. Just make sure you don't stand on the coral, like a lot of oblivious tourists were doing when I was there.
Stopped by planning to snorkel and it was low tide. I also forgot my water shoes which are a must for this beach. It looks like there are great places to snorkel, but not equipped this visit.
Did not see any star sand except at the stand in the parking lot.
Restroom and cafe at the top of the hill above the beach.
It's a beautiful beach and a beautiful view, that's for sure. It is worth a look. Swimming is nice, although there is very little to see for snorkeling. There is a run down restaurant which we often go to for ice cream (the Shiiquasa Sherbet is the best!) when it's open.
I came here around Christmas time and, unfortunately, it had been rainy or cloudy days during our stay in Iriomote. Even in such bad conditions, the beach was beautiful for its clear water and very small island in front the beach.
When I had been here before, the water was very clear and I enjoyed snorkeling for half of the day.
Here is must-visit place in Iriomote island.
