Dungeswari Hills, not far from Bodhgaya, is where Lord Buddha practised extreme asceticism in his search for enlightenment. It is said that at one stage he resembled a living skeleton, so extreme were his ascetic practices, until he realised the Middle Way.

You can visit the cave in which Buddha is said to have meditated following a short hike up the hill. No entry fee. Can be reached by motorcycle from Bodhgaya.

It's a place much far from the the centre. Worth to visit. You can do the hiking on the hills which are on backside and find the remains of a few more stupas..really old ones. Recommended to visit.

You can visit the cave where the Buddha meditated for years, becoming emaciated to like a skeleton in the process. it requires a 10 minute slightly steep climb up a paved path. you must be in decent shape for this though there are pairs of porters who can carry people too. Very scenic, saw groups of Tourists from different countries dressed in their native Buddhist garb. Highly recommended if you like meditative experiences

A place where Gotama Buddha was practising extreme asceticism before his enlightenment. Walking up few hundred feet on a not so steep sloping path, there is a Tibetan Temple. It provide a good view over Budhgaya.
