Our family stayed in a suite for two nights during the Special Olympics in May. I was a bit concerned after reading all the negative reviews, but this hotel turned out to be nice.
Our two children, ages 14 and 9, enjoyed the water park. The slides were a lot of fun and the rock climbing wall was unique. The water and air temperature in the park were comfortable.
Due to the numerous Special Olympics activities, we used the water park for about 1/2 of one day and one morning. Because the park is smaller, I would advise someone who is visiting just for the water park to plan other activities.
Even though it was a suite, the room was small. The sofa bed, which our 14-year-old used, was not comfortable. And, when we arrived the television sets didn't work properly. Someone came up and fixed the problem. The room was clean.
There are many negative reviews regarding service, but we didn't experience any problems. The waitress in the restaurant was helpful and kind, and we didn't have trouble with the lifeguards. After I asked, the front desk let me check out an hour later.
We've stayed at two Great Wolf Lodge resorts (Sandusky and Traverse City), the Kalahari, and Frankemuth's Splash Village and found that although Soaring Eagle was considerably smaller, it was still fun.More
