Thank you to all the staff at Nkomazi , especially Heinrich Michelle and Kilman and Dave for your awesome hospitality. This special place is a true GEM . No doubt the best kept secret of the lowveld. Just like the white and pink quartz found on this property which represents Love peace and tranquillity. The perfect energy to run through your veins listening to the rapids of the Komati river pure bliss. Excellent game viewing missed the cheetah this time, but we will be back , warm regards and thank you once again.

Room Tip: Any room along the river , listening to the rapids allows for sound sleep

If you are looking for a very special place with extremely knowledgeable rangers and lovely staff, this is it! We were here to celebrate our 20th anniverary with our son and his fiancee and wanted to have a special celebration. Well, we certainly did! Together with our ranger Heinrich (and for one drive Dave) we had close encounters with lots of animals. Highlights? Ask me to pick our one specific highlight and I will say the elephants, 15 of them and they let us into their world for at least 30 minutes at very, very close distance. But the cheetah chase (he was more of less lost for 10 previous months) was very exciting and we did not even see the cheetah! But Dave did, and he was in heaven. The tents are very luxurious and comfortable, with privacy on all decks. The food was excellent, and the high-tea, just before the afternoon game drive, was sinfully delicious! We all had a massage at the Spa and must complement that team as well. Thanks for making our anniversary one will never forget. We have unanimously decided that we will be back!

Room Tip: You can not pick a wrong tent, all are perfectly situated!

Have just come back from 5 nights at Nkomazi as part of our trip to South Africa. This beautiful game reserve has been truly memorable. The tents are the most luxurious accommodation I have stayed in from the large bed to the stunning view from the toilet. They are positioned so you have complete privacy unable to see any other tent from yours just the stunning view of the river and mountains. The food is more than plentiful we never needed lunch. The hot flannels and drinks following each game drive very welcome. Our guide Kilmon was amazing. He was so knowledgeable about the history of the area as well as the animals and plants and birds. He gave us an impromptu star gazing session when we asked him about a certain star. He could spot an animal at several kilometres distance. We particularly enjoyed the display the elephants seemed to put on for us and watching and listening to the crunch of the lions eating the recent kill from 20 feet away was awesome. He also treated us to a guided walk halfway through one of the game drives. The sundowners were very civilised and we even ended up climbing a rock with glasses of wine in hand because Kilmon had heard an elephant and wanted to show it to us.
the spa treatments were very relaxing and a lovely way to spend an hour in the day.

I would thoroughly recommend Nkomazi to anyone who wants a more personal, exclusive experience that is more like a select house party than staying in a hotel. And thank you Kilmon for the wonderful drives.

Real luxury with friendship and a smile. Accommodation was fantastic - as was the food and all the arrangements and care. We spent three nights here and soon made good friends not only with our guide but with others staying at Nkomazi - whom we met up with at other places in SA. The reserve is full of animals and we had stunning and up close views of the must-see animals. The two drives a day were incredibly well organised. Our ranger Kilman was a star. Another guest at the lodge who had lived in SA for the past 4 years and travelled extensively said it was without doubt the best reserve she had visited = and I can believe it. A wonderful time.

Stayed here for an anniversary celebration. The accomodation is definitely luxurious with a quaint bathroom and dressing area, huge comfortable bed and lovely outside bath tub. The views were amazing from our room. The staff went to extra lengths to give us a private dinner experience on our first night there. Food options were a little less than other 5 star game reseve accomodation but it was honestly more than enough and defnitely more than one person could eat. The actual game drives were a bit too rocky for my liking and the game viewing not as good as the Sabi however, they have plans to improve this. We used the spa which is very well located near the river and had excellent treatments there.

We really enjoyed our trip to Nkomazi. The luxury tents were superb as was the food. The evening game drives along with the sundowners were something special. I will be back to sample some of the fly fishing on offer!

We spent 2 nights at this small, personal Game Lodge, over New Year. The accommodation and food were excellent, as everyone agrees. I would like to say a little about the Game Reserve itself. Although relatively small, the reserve is full of animals. It is like a "little Serengeti". Open plains, with antelope and warthog wherever you look. You certainly don't have to search for them. No peering through thick bush. Although we only saw one elephant - he was very "up close and personal". We saw lion hunting on one of the evening drives, which was exciting. Our ranger, Dave, was very informative and told us things that we had not heard before, on many other game drives. He also was not shy to go off road to try and show us animals. There are also amazing bushman paintings on the reserve. One thing I would mention is that the roads are very bumpy and if you have a bad back, be a little cautious! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend Nkomazi to all.

Room Tip: We had tent no. 11 and I believe this has the best view of all. It was fantastic, a little further f...
