“A Gem of a Hotel in a Delightful Little Town”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

There is no shortage of things to do within a small radius of Graskop. Nestled into the Northern Drakensberg Escarpment - close to Gods Window, the Three Rondavels, Bourkes Luck Potholes and the list goes on - Graskop boasts this little gem of a hotel, right in the middle of a delightful little town. The garden room we enjoyed had light, air, space, outside secure parking and a private patio from which one can enjoy the manicured garden. The food and service fully complimented the superior appointments of this property. Highly recommened.

A very and neat situated Hotel which welcomes you warmly from the minute that you enter the front door. Neat and well kept garden as well as very clean and acceptable rooms. The service was friendly and the staff always helpful to assist. Breakfast was well prepared and was good value for money. Graskop is a lovely town and the Hotel is a place to stay when visiting the Panoramic Route.

We booked into the Graskop Hotel on a recent drive on the Panorama route. The hotel has an art theme, with pieces of art all around and in the rooms too. It has a pool, though it was too cold to consider using it at this time of year.

The rooms are quite cosy with attached baths. There was a poem etched into the glass of one of the windows in the bathroom! The tariff included breakfast, which was quite a decent spread and gave us a good start to the day.

The hotel is located in the centre of Graskop and has adequate parking as well. You need to access the parking lot from a parallel street, but you can walk into the hotel once you park. I read the reviews about unfriendly staff, but we didn't encounter any issues during our stay. If I was to return to Graskop, would definitely consider staying here again.

I lead a group of 7 for a 5 week trip to South Africa. Because it was an educational trip we decided to stay in one place for 2 weeks and we stayed at the Graskop Hotel. We had a wonderful experience. The staff was so helpful, even lighting fires for us in the room where we gathered to talk daily. The rooms were very nice and kept very clean by the staff. The beds were so comfortable! Breakfast was good and once we mentioned that we liked the scones and for the next several days the server would bring us warm ones to our table. Graskop is a cute town and if you need a place to stay before driving the Panoramic Route I would highly recommend this hotel.

The Hotel looks nice from the outside and when we saw the tripadvisor sign on the front desk we thought it would be just the place to sleep over for the night! What a let down when the front desk had the opinionated air of an english butler, but without the obligatory finesse. We had a look around never the less and over tea experienced the same "attitude". We decided not to stay over.

This place looks like a normal hotel from the outside, but it is very nicely decorated inside. The Artist Rooms are amazing! There are books to read, a nice pool, an art gallery, a very friendly cat and breakfast is excellent.
A welcome change from the ordinary.

Let me start by saying what the disgruntled front desk clerk reminded us - this is a 3 star hotel. Fair enough but the staff could still be friendly and helpful regardless of the rating. There are no hair dryers in the room and only a few at the front desk. I was told that I would have to share it with someone else in the morning and I should have brought my own. My husband asked for an electrical plug converter (North American to South African) and after some discussion was reluctantly provided with one.
The rooms are a reasonable size and clean although the bath tub could use some attention.
The art theme is fun and would be very effective if they got the service essentials right.
On a positive note, the breakfast was good.
