Our stay was perfectly comfortable, and not quite like a hotel, which it isn't. As a guesthouse, I cannot complain much about the rooms, which were quaint, and the host was attentive and provided enjoyable home-cooked dinners and breakfasts.
The living room and bar area seems rather unkempt and disorganized, and need some housekeeping ( we had to help ourselves to drinks), and expect no TV or WIFI, so a relaxing early night in the peace of nature should be planned for.
Contrary to the previous reviewer's issue, the gardens were clean and tidy and quite lovely. The house is a little gloomy, partly because of the heavy Victorian style, but it is a place that has a slightly shabby homey feel, and is EXCELLENT value for money. It does not have that feel of a santized hotel, but rather a home.
Location was one of the highlights, being close to all the area's main attractions.
People with overdeveloped Americanized standards may not enjoy the place, but as a one-off experience I have no major reason for complaint.
I would certainly consider it again if staying in the area for the location, homey hospitality and value for money.
