Having driven from the west of Etosha right through the National Park to the east, we were intrigued by the thought of staying in a treetop tent. On the way we saw great fire devastation, enormous expansive salt flats and hundreds of animals varying from the striped mongoose to our first sight of the most beautiful grown lion. The journey was just inspiring.

The track towards the end of the park turns to a made up road which feels strange to drive along after the tracks to which we had become accustomed. The treetop camp is situated just outside the park and lies about twelve kilometers from the main road, along a sand track which borders the the fence line of Etosha National Park.

The gate person must have alerted the staff of our arrival for we were greeted by our helpers, the chef and our guide, who had warm smiles, cold refresher towels and refreshing drinks ready for us.. After a quick introduction to the facilities and safaris that we could enjoy, we were taken along the wooden walk way to our treetop tent, overlooking a natural waterhole.

The facilities are unique, very comfortable with wondrous views. Do have a look at the web page, it tells no lies, and in reality we were delighted by the whole experience.

After having settled ourselves we sat with drinks which were brought to us whilst we watched the sun go down. On arrival at our dining room a fire had been lit out on a huge deck area, so that we could watch the waterhole, under false moonlight whilst we had per-diner drinks. At breakfast time our table was placed beside another fire of which we wre deeply gratefull since until the suns rays became warmer, it was decidedly chilly.

The food was delicious, every meal cooked just for us with service second to none. Isaac our chef was only to happy to please and indeed he certainly did please us. We felt very welcome and overly spoiled by the personal service they gave us. Although there are treetop units for four couples we wre the only people there and this made the experience even more personal and enjoyable.

Lots of animals and birds visited the waterhole, some of them so close that we felt that we could have touched them.

Could we fault our stay, the accommodation, the food, the service? Decidedly not it was a unique and not to be missed experience. Thenk you all so much.

Room Tip: Just go and experience this truly different accommodation....

This is definately the best place to stay if you want to be part of nature. With only 4 tents on a raised platform at the edge of a very active waterhole, you are really amongst it.
4 tents also means more staff than guests and the overall experience is excellent, with great food, great service and the most knowledgable wildlife guides we came across on on our trip.
I wish we had stayed an extra night because the property it is siuated on has a more lush ecosystem than Etosha and is well worth exploring in its own right
I would recommend this to anyone and its excellent value!

Room Tip: They are all the same - only 4 so it does not matter

One of the best lodges in Namibia, in the world! The service is the best of all, they are all so nice and will make everything for you to feel comfortable. The tree top tents are unbelievable, they are open bedrooms so you hear all the nature's sounds: GREAT SWEAT DREAMS!
From your bed you can watch the animals drink water from the waterfront, wow!
For dinner they set up a lovely table under the stars, great food, a really nice experience. We stayed only 1 night and would like to stayed there at least 3. We visited the luxury tents inside Onguma and also they look amazing! You definitevely should try this place!!!
Our guide was the best, explaining everything about nature. He prepared a wonderful picnic for the sunset!
And the best, the open air shower with hot water UNREAL!

Room Tip: tree top camp (all rooms are the same, expectacular) or you can try the luxury tent camp.

We stayed in Onguma in Sept 2011 as part of our trip to Namibia. We simply loved the treetop camp - the views, food, rooms and hospitality couldn't be faulted. Quite how they serve the standard of food in what feels like the middle of nowhere I just don't know! We went for an early evening trip and while we were out our guide received a call telling him to get somewhere quick - we were all excited about what it could be - turned out it was a male cheetah resting behind a termite mound. This was just icing on the cake for us...we absolutely loved it...

Room Tip: There are only a handful of rooms and each one could be classified as a 'suite' - all fabulous.

I have stayed in dozens of lodges & camps in southern Africa and this one is an absolute Gem. It is basically a row of seven separate 'huts' suspended on stilts and joined by raised walkways arranged around a watering hole. The central hut is a large communal dining facility and the other six are double room accommodation with a shower. Each hut has an open side with a balcony facing the watering hole and which cannot be seen by anyone else either from the camp or elsewhere. We arrived in the evening and after wonderful food and a beverage or two got an early night. I was woken by my wife (who had lost her contact lenses) nudging me, waving vaguely towards the watering hole and muttering about blurred images and strange noises. When I opened my eyes (and found Mrs J's glasses) we could see the water hole teeming with life a few yards from our bed and could enjoy the view and our breakfast without having to move an inch. This is a marvellous way to wake up!

We stayed for several days and enjoyed guided safari drives into Etosha, several wonderful meals and watching a variety of wildlife at far closer ranges than is normally possible; on several occasions they were under our hut! It’s peaceful, friendly, intimate and pretty romantic too; we will certainly go back when next we are able.

Room Tip: All the rooms are superb
