Our room was great. Our check
In went smoothly. Beds were comfortable, bath towels were large and fluffy, everything was clean. However, the morning front desk gal did not have any coffee ready both mornings (Sat and Sun) and when I approached the desk, she was in the back area on her phone and actually looked up and said "what?" On Sunday, when my fiancé went down for coffee, they were again out. When he asked her about coffee, she exhaled in loud exasperation and said "I've got some in back." She then went in the back and her visiting friend with child went around the desk and followed her back there. They were there for a while. She definitely needs to put down her phone, keep the morning coffee stocked and get some customer service skills and general politeness training. If it weren't for her, the stay would have been perfect.

The weathered look of the building was part of the charm. The inside was well maintained. Our room was fresh and clean. The double shower head and heat lamp in the bathroom were appreciated. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They maintain a list of current activities in the area - worth checking out. Location is perfect - 1) overlooking White Lake (make sure you ask for room facing lake) 2) right off of the Hart/Montague bike trail, 3) walking distance to the downtowns, including Lipkas sandwich shop/soda fountain in Montague which has old fashioned milk shakes and a small, but innovative lunch menu, 4) 5 miles from Lake Michigan. The warm, freshly baked chocolate chip cookies they put out each evening are a treat. The continental breakfast is minimal - probably our only complaint. Pastries and fruit - that's about it.

Friendly service at all points (calling for reservation, checking in, asking for directions at front desk). Room was very clean. Mattress protector, soft sheets, comfortable mattress and plenty of large bath towels, hand towels and wash clothes. The fireplace and jacuzzi were excellent for relaxing (the fireplace really heats up the room). The love seat couch was also very comfortable and clean. The jacuzzi tub fits 2 comfortably and fills up quickly with very hot water. The shower has two shower heads. Nice toiletries provided (shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, lotion, 2 soap bars, q-tips and cotton balls). Great little patio to look at the lake and marina (saw some muskrats :) ) - had to pull the chairs from inside out to sit and relax. No privacy on the patio, if your neighbors are out you can hear and see everything. It is nice just to prop the door open and have the fresh air come in the room. Standard breakfast bar (cold cereal, muffins, bagels, danishes, bread, english muffins, fruit, yogurt and a waffle iron and toaster). Don't forget to look in the fridge for the milk, cream cheese, yogurt and hard boiled eggs. Very clean area for breakfast but seating was an issue at one point; they do have nice trays available above the sink to bring breakfast back to your room. If I could give half stars this would be a 3.5 star location. A few maintenance issues (a rather worn looking toilet seat and ring in the shower tub), tight space for toilet and lower end details (sink, faucet and shower heads) take this from a solid 4 star to a 3 and a half for me. Great location near bike/walking path (saw several deer :) ), close to great state parks and some cute shopping downtown. The cleanliness and great customer service make this the perfect getaway. The Inn is very pet friendly and lots of dogs were on the premises but there was no noise or issues with cleanliness. We got a great deal with travelzoo and will be back.

Our stay here was good overall. We had a lake view room on the 2nd floor.

Good
-The room had a good bed and fireplace.
-Great view of the lake.
-Good location to walk to both Montague and Whitehall.
-Friendly staff.

Bad
-The jacuzzi had a layer of scum on the bottom.
-No chairs on the balcony to actually look at the view from.
-The kitchenette can't really be used for anything, just a microwave and oven type machine.

Other
-The hotel was much smaller than it looked on the website.
-The breakfast the the typical free hotel breakfast.

We stayed 2 nights in this very clean and comfortable room on the second floor. It was done very tastefully and the lake side view was great. Wonderful staff, very pleasant and helpful. Only thing we noticed was the sounds coming from the other room, not an issue or problem, but noticed it. The area is very quiet and not much to do when it is cold out, but the room was comfortable. Would stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for the second floor for better views and it's quiet.

We just got back from a get away weekend. So happy that we chose the Weathervane Inn. The staff was very pleasant and knowledgeable. The room was clean, the bed was extremely comfortable, wonderful huge towels, a jacuzzi tub and fireplace in each room. The tub/shower in the bathroom has 2 opposing shower heads which was unique. Our view off our deck was of the marina....no boats yet, but still a very pleasant sight with swans and geese swimming around. Very good restaurants nearby. The only complaint...and it is minor....was that the toilet was too close to the wall and the t-paper was hard to get because you are smooshed up against it! We will definitely go back!

We stayed here in March and it was a nice getaway. Staff was great,, had a nice room with good view. Whirlpools in each room, at least in ours, which was nice. Everything was clean and good. I even left my tablet charger and they shipped it back to me - very cool!
