“Nice & relaxing stay”
Reviewed October 13, 2011

We used a Groupon for our stay in October, and were very pleased. The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was not the comfiest, but not too bad. We had reserved a non-lakeview room, as that was the only one available, and they indicated they'd put us on a waiting list for a lakeview room and give us a call. They didn't call, but when I inquired at check-in if one was available, they had one, so we got moved to lakeview. The view was more of the marina & boats, but still very nice. Our room was right outside the reception desk where they also served continental breakfast so it got a little noisy around breakfast time. The breakfast had a lot of items. Staff was nice. Hart-Montague bike trail was right outside the door and we enjoyed a few good bike rides on the very nice trail. Would stay again.

Our family of four spent a few nights here and would recommend it to anyone. This place is centrally located between Hart/Silver Lake and Muskegon and is right on the Hart-Montague Trail. We couldn't find bike rental in the area. (The website is wrong - they do not rent bikes on site and the place they recommended didn't bother to call us back.) But we brought our own and had a blast. This is a really fun place and we plan to be back if we need to stay in the area.

Room Tip: No elevator on site. You'll want a corner room if you can get it.

Thanks to the staff for making our stay enjoyable, everyone was friendly and helpful. We almost didn't stay due to other comments but after asking were told that the beds had been replaced and we found the bed in our room to be perfect. Glad we called and checked. Can't wait to return for a longer stay.

All the B&Bs were booked for an anniversary weekend trip, so I booked a corner queen room. All the staff were gracious and helpful, the contenental breakfast was well laid out with a good variety of choices, quiet hours from 11PM to 7AM, the room was clean and pleasant, the view was great out over White Lake, this is a very convenient location for using the bike trail, walking around Montague and Whitehall and easy to find. We were there on a Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. It was quiet and peaceful.

Room Tip: Ask if second floor rooms, especially the corner queen, are available

2 10" pipes spewing black sludge approx 20' from our waterfront balcony. Some sort of dredging in lake, with front loader and trucks in and out from 7am-8pm, even Sat am. We were never advised of such when made the resevation. Noisy plumbing from the whirlpool tubs. Faulty phone msg lite blinked repeatedly all night. Wall heater woke us up repeatedly before we finally shut it off. Lay awake at 1:30 am wondering whether to just get up and drive home. Maid came in and started cleaning before we checked out -9:00am and put our stuff at the desk????

Hello, I am the new property manager for the hotel and wanted to respond to your comments. I apologize for the issues that you had during your stay, they are un-acceptable and I assure you that we are implementing new training and guest service programs to give our guests the best experience possible. We are working with the facility next to us that was dredging the lake to make sure that it is not near our hotel in the future. Thank you again for letting us know some of the items that you noticed need attention. We are working on the final details of a renovation plan and maintenance plan to alleviate the types of issues that you had.

We have family in Muskegon, MI and for the past several years have stayed at the Shoreline Inn and Suites. Well their new management has decided that they will no longer take pets. So, I found the Weathervane, who takes my dogs and charges me less for a much better room and much friendlier staff; not to mention a much better continental breakfast! The room had a lovely view of the lake and river. Was well sound-proofed such that you never heard the traffic on the bridge. Had a great deck that allowed me to do some waterfowl birding, not to mention the amazing sunrise our second day there. It is located within walking distance of both downtown Montague and Whitehall as well routes 31 and 120 providing simple access to the roads to visit our family and friends in the area. We tend to like local places for meals and there are plenty, but for those who need chains their are a couple of those, too. Two cautions, if you can't walk a staircase specify a ground floor room as there are no elevators and the review about the bed is correct, it was very soft and in need of replacing. With all the walking about we did and visiting of folks until 8 or later, I slept very soundly despite the soft mattress. They did a rennovation in 2004; perhaps this Winter they will rennovate the beds.

My husband booked this for an Anniversary getaway. The room was very pretty. The view-amazing. The check in staff was friendly. The breakfast looked good, though we did not participate. The game room on the 2nd floor was a nice touch for families. I cannot however imagine booking a repeat stay until they remedy the bed situation. Our bed was awful. I felt every spring. It sunk in, had no support at all. Worse, the box spring was horribly stained. It looked like maybe somebody spilled coffee off the side table? It was awful. I did note this on my survey, and mentioned it to the clerk at check out. Her only rsponse, "OK". Hmmm...no I'm sorry, I'll let managment know.....nothing. Oh well....we still had a nice visit, so I let it go.
