I read several other review that were not complimentary to the hotel and staff. We chose to stay there, because it was the only hotel that had rooms available at that time. Comments I read stated the staff was rude, the location was in a bad neighborhood, and the rooms were unclean. Well we were plesantly surprised. The hote was old, and there was evidence of some minor wear, however, the rooms were comfortable and well kept. The neighborhood wasn't that bad. The adjacent strip mall was virtually empty. The economy has hit that area very hard, but I saw no evidence of what would lead me to believe it was a "bad" neighborhood. Finally, the staff. They were EXCELLENT! They cared and were very attentive. They made the best chocolate chip cookies I ever ate, and made sure they saved me a few each evening. The breakfast area was kept clean and the staff was always cheerful. The pool was very nice, too may kids, but it was a very nice, clean and well kept pool. The staff made the visit FAR above average. I would recomment this hotel to anyone who is looking for economy, AND a more than pleasant stay. P.S. Make sure you get some of those great cokies!

Wow - i just wanna tell you how much I enjoyed my stay here.
The hotel is well located in the heart of monroe. Great rooms - large with big bathroom, and including coffee maker and microwave, Free internet is included.Gym is incredibly well equipped - lots of machines , but also free weights, Spa is excellent (open 24 hrs).
Beautiful pool - long enough to do proper exercise laps!
Service is very attentive.
This is not a character hotel , but is one of the best that I have stayed in for a long time!

Loved the location. Not far away from anything, but not too close to the point that you have to break the bank to say there. As always, Baymont has great rooms, and great service. The hotel staff was extremely helpful. Being from out of town, I didn't know which restaurant to go to and whatnot, and the staff's recommendations were excellent. I spilled coffee on my bed, and they had someone come in and clean it instantly without any fuss like other hotels. Would love to stay there again if I could.

My wedding party stayed here for a few days in advance of the wedding and the rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff very warm and friendly. The wine we got with the coupon was very tasty, too, a yummy sweet Concord -- I was afraid it was going to be dry, it wasn't!

The staff handled the screaming children running in the hallways with great grace. The pool and spa were delightful. I'm *very* glad that those under 18 were not allowed in the pool after 10 PM because there were 30+ screaming children in the pool up until 9:30 PM, after which there was only a dozen. I'm SO GLAD they were asked to leave after 10 PM. It was a great testament to the grace of the Manager that she behaved so politely while one of the parents was screaming at her while the Manager was showing her the -very- -clearly- -posted- sign on the pool and spa door with "Please Read" in big, block letters. While the wedding was New Year's Eve, it's bad enough they were allowed to run and scream in the hallways until after 1 AM.

Breakfast was very good and coffee was in abundance. In spite of there being lots and lots of people at the hotel, the danishes and whatnot were refilled before anything completely ran out -- even after breakfast was supposed to be over, people were still eating, so the service stayed excellent. Check-in and check-out was a breeze, some of the staff may have been foreign born, but their English was excellent.

The only complaint is with the outside company that handles the lighting. The driveway isn't terribly well lit at night, so if you've never been here before, keep an eye out for the sign under the "Horizons" plaza sign.

Great hotel in the Monroe area, definately give it a visit.

First off, staff was really nice and helpful. But no amount of customer service can help this hotel. The bad: Really terrible location. In the back of a dark, mostly abandoned outlet mall. The first two rooms had lots of hair in the beds.... on the sheets. Very loud Interstate noise. Torn wallpaper. EXPENSIVE!! After tax, the room was about $100 per night. Unbelievable. Worn hotel in need of updating. The good: Pets allowed with a $10 per night charge. We traveled with our small dog, so that was the main reason why we chose this hotel, along with all of the great reviews from this site. Were we staying at the same property??? Also, the beds WERE comfortable, but when you have to question the cleanliness of them, you really don't get a very good night sleep. This is more like a $40-$50 per night kind of place. But even at that rate, the hairy beds are a deal breaker. We switched hotels and I have written a review of that one as well.
