You experience unexpected levels of style, luxury, and privacy. The hotel was great, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Great value for the money when you get the package deals. Partner businesses are very good as well. Great place to go to get away, and would definitely stay there again.

My husband and I were in Monroe for one evening and stayed at the Hotel Sterling. It is a quiet, small hotel in the middle of downtown Monroe near restaurants and shops. We were able to park right in front of the hotel. Our room was beautiful. It looked like a freshly remodeled studio apartment with high ceilings, wood floors, and beautiful cabinetry. The bathroom has marble tile and a marble shower. The bed and linens were so soft - it was the best night's sleep I have gotten in a long time. "Curbside" was the name of our room since we were right on the ground floor next to the street. We did hear a little traffic noise if a large truck or motorcycle passed by but it did not deter from our stay. You would probably not hear street noise in some of the other rooms. The in-room continental breakfast and beverages were such a nice touch. I wish we would've stayed more than one night. We will certainly make reservations at the Hotel Sterling anytime we are near Monroe. It is a unique, accomodating and beautiful hotel.

The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The hotel was quiet so I got a great nights sleep, and the beds are very comfortable. The table and free WiFi made working easy.

My wife and I stayed at Sterling Hotel in October 2010 and found the rooms the best value we have stayed in all our travels (and we are frequent leisure travelers at least 10 times per year). If you are in the area from Detroit to Toledo it is worth the short drive to Monroe to stay at the Sterling. If you arrive after 5pm you gain entrance to the building through the email code sent to you and your room key is waiting for you at the unmanned front desk. We had never used a hotel like this but it is actually nice to have no check in or check out (but there is plenty of security). The rooms are modern decor and have everything you need. The local restaurants are very nice and the food great. Monroe is a small quiet city but is a short distance to Detroit or Toledo so the location is good geographically. We highly recommend the Sterling Hotel and you will not be disappointed.

Hotel Sterling is a gem. The rooms are huge and luxurious. Complementary breakfast and drinks, free parking, free internet, free pass to the YMCA and running available along the river. This will be the only place I will stay in the Monroe area from now on.

I had a last minute business trip to Monroe. It seems lately hotels have taken all the luxury out of the visit. All they offer is a bed everything is extra internet, breakfast, etc. Sterling was a very nice surprise. It feels more like a nice loft. When you walk in the room you can tell it is very clean. Not just on the surface clean but they work hard to keep this place in tip top shape. The bed is comfortable and they provide you with a nice work space. Overall my stay at Hotel Sterling was exceptionally wonderful.

I was initially looking for places to stay in Toledo when I came across the Hotel Sterling website. I loved the look of the rooms with gleaming wooden floors, soft, comfortable chairs and attractive art. I wasn't disappointed.

The hotel is small, only 8 rooms, I believe, so it's kind of a cross between a B&B and a hotel. When we arrived, no one was at the front desk but there was an envelope with our name on, containing our room cards and explaining how to check in, come in after hours, etc.

The room we had is on the third floor. It's quite large, with three windows, two comfortable chairs, a large table, kitchen area with microwave, fridge and sink, and a very nice bed. Everything was clean and neat.

The sleeping area is separated by a sort of entertainment center/clothes storage area, which makes it nice. You can read in the bedroom while your partner watches TV and feel that you each have a little privacy.

The windows open, which I really enjoy when the weather is nice. I guess if you came with kids you might not want to open them, since most of the rooms are on either the second or third floor. There is no elevator so you have to be able to do stairs.

The hotel is right downtown, so there are plenty of places to eat and drink within easy walking distance. Farther away, Toledo is about 25 miles and Detroit isn't too far either. There are many parks along the Lake Erie, so there's plenty to do.

We normally go to B&B's but Hotel Sterling is a nice cross between a conventional hotel and a B&B. The fridge came stocked with yogurt, milk, juice, and pop, and there's a bowl with cereal, oatmeal, fresh fruit and so on. Rather like a continental breakfast.

I really enjoyed the large room, the attractive woodwork and the very comfortable bed. The only thing lacking perhaps is storage for clothing. There's a small area in the entertainment/room divider for hanging clothes but no dresser for other things, although there are several open shelves in the divider. If you need something, you call the manager and whatever you requested is brought to you. It might take a little while as the hotel is not constantly staffed, so if you want ice or something, ask early.

We really enjoyed our stay here, it was very peaceful and pleasant and I can recommend it with no reservations. The price is reasonable and the hotel is well worth it.
