This bakery has been around for years. People tell me that they used to give free cookies for good report cards and that kids used to go after school and buy things on their parents' credit accounts, which were accepted on faith. The parents would stop in regularly to pay up the bills for their kids' after school treats. They have all the old-fashioned stand-bys: oatmeal, chocolate chip, and peanut butter cookies, to name a few; pumpkin and cherry pie slices; awesome, freshly made donuts (my fav); and deliciously cheerful birthday cakes, for pick-up or made-to-order. This is just to name a few. Try the chocolate bumpycake cupcakes. They also sell soft, old time loaves of bread and home-made pasties, not to mention the usual holiday centered treats, like yule-logs and packis. Pleasant and helpful folks, too. Limited, uncomfortable seating, not geared to encourage lingering or quiet conversation, but certainly good for a quick cup of joe and a donut!
