Best Western Valley Plaza Inn
Ranked #6 of 11 Hotels in Midland
Reviewed May 4, 2011

We stayed at the Best Western Valley Plaza 'Resort' for 2 nights. It wasn't worth the $99 cost. I would say it's a $69,99 a night hotel- at best!
The rooms are very outdated- they seemed fairly clean- however the beds needed new linens. The beds were also VERY VERY hard!
The staff was not friendly- the ONLY staff members that acknowledged us were the couple that were providing room service. All other staff members (and we did see them) ignored us.
The rooms are very loud- the highway is right outside them and either ask for a room that faces the courtyard or be prepared to sleep with the fan on all night.
Lastly, the breakfast was horrible. The floor around the breakfast buffet area was very sticky- which leaves me to wonder how clean everything else was.
This wasn't THE WORST place we have stayed at- but it wasn't worth the money.

We've been taking weekend vacations at the Best Western/Valley Resort for 10 years. Every visit is excellent! We love the fact that we can bowl, mini-golf, watch a movie, swim, play pool and video games without leaving the property. Also, our kids are free to do these things without us. The food is excellent at Gimmick's every time. We invited a few friends this time, and everyone had a great time! The suite was awesome, and gave us a central location to hang out/meet in. Also happy to see that the resort continues to be well-maintained. Our favorite mini-vacation spot in Michigan!

I read the reviews after being told about the place. I was hesitant about going for my 41st birthday after reading the reviews. Since it was cold, I went anyway because it wasn't much else to do. I got a 2 room suite at the Valley Plaza Resort and it was amazing. The only thing I complained about was the heat. The room didn't get as hot as I wanted it but it wasn't cold enough to complain to the front desk. The room was nice, but it did not have a flat screen. Me and my husband slept in the king size bed with complete privacy. Our teenagers slept on the couch bed but the room was big enough for a lay out bed, if you need one. We did not hear their television nor did they hear us. The huge beautiful bathroom separated our rooms and the privacy was very much appreciated. We purchaced the Sweetheart special and just added the 2 room suite for an additional $50. to get a cheaper rate. We got $25 free money to spend and 4 free movie tickets. The people were friendly and the facilities were very clean. I look forward to going back when the weather is hot to go to the beech. It is nice for a family to enjoy at one location. You do not have to drive to have fun. The food and entertainment was nice and affordable for everyone.

Our family had one of the awesome experiences during our stay at the Best Western- Valley Plaza Resort., Midland Michigan.

Its one place that has it all. It had my kids taken back with their game room, swimming pool for kids and adults. To add icing to our stay we had a great time at their fitness center, bowling alley while the kids had a terrific time at the movie theater, inside this resort. There was enough memorable times when the kids could go play putt putt golf and my friends and I were having a great time at the bowling alley. Yes, Yes ! all this at the Best Western, Valley Plaza Resort. Its a sure reason to check out as it includes relaxation, fun and activities for the whole family. Its was like home away from home for us !

A side note the, Market place is a huge favorite for the kids.

We had a chance to get away and stayed at Valley Plaza Resort /Suites. We had a really great room in a nice quite location, very clean and a nice whirlpool tub too..So relaxing for us. The staff at the Healt Club was very nice and the Main Hotel the staff was so nice and told us all about the resort and what we could do. It was snowing out so we decide to walk to the Studio M Theater and take in a movie and enjoy warm popcorn after coming in from the cold. It was a nice place to go for a short break and we look forward to going back very soon.

Received a gift certificate to this "resort" for Christmas. There were 20 of us in total with kids ranging from 17 months to 16 years old. When we first arrived we were in the Best Western standard rooms. First impression very creepy feeling when we walked through the cold and dark hallways. They had heaters on the brick walls in the hallway to try to keep it warm. The rooms were dark musty and very old looking. 2 out of our 4 rooms had no heat at all. BTW...they keep the rooms thermostats at 55 degrees so needless to say we had to crank the heat and leave our coats on. 2 of us had to switch rooms because the heat never went on. We went to the pool area and it was very dark. Half the games in the arcade were out of order. That night we decided to switch rooms to the other part of the hotel the Valley Plaza "suites". The staff was not very accomodating at first, they seemed offended that we didn't want to stay there. These rooms were better, still no heat. We had to call maintenance for two of the rooms again. We ended up having to switch rooms because the heat never worked in one at all. When the maintenance man fixed the heat in the other room, he accidently shut off the refrigerator so the baby's milk went bad. The rooms were very old fashioned, stains on carpet, chairs, and the towels were an odd yellowish color. There were three unidentified hairs in the shower...yes some curly. The pool area was much brighter in this hotel and the kids did like the dolphin statue. The bowling alley and putt putt golf were great and it was a great escape from the hotel. They have a little movie theater that had not been cleaned up between shows but it was only 3.75 a movie...the concessions offer stale popcorn. Our package offered a continental breakfast with make your own waffles, mystery sausage, and cold eggs. I ate yogurt and a muffin...they were good. At this point I am noticing that this hotel is in desperate need of good lighting. We actually saw some kids playing Bloody Mary in the hallway to a portrait...my sentiments exactly.

I booked a stay at the Best Western Valley Plaza Resort and the hotel doesn't live up to it's name. This was not a resort. It's a hotel from the 1980's that is in desperate need of a renovation. There was no electrical outlet near the bed so I had to get an extension cord from the front desk to power my sleeping apparatus. We had the inconvenience of a 3am fire alarm which went off for entirely too long. The only good part about this hotel was that it was located close to a local bowling alley and bar which saved the trip.
