This was a wonderful place with hidden paths and beautiful gardens. We were there during a Zimbabwe sculpture exhibit so there was lots more to see than even the gardens.

I attended the gardens on July 5th, a day hotter than most, and that is the only reason I can't give 5 stars to this review. While there is all sorts of shade, it doesn't happen to be anywhere near the abundant and beautiful flowers. I was with my 65 year old mother and 3 year old son and both were suffering by the end of the trip. Upon our return, it was learned that for a mere $2, you could be chauffeured in a golf cart. That's the way to go. All told, the gardens were remarkable and truly something to behold. I look forward to my next visit.

Unless you are into lots of flowers this really won't be your thing. There are some paved, wood chipped, and stone paths to follow. Most of the flower gardens you need to get off the path to see. There is a lot to see. Wen I was there they had the Zim Sculptures there. Pretty cool to watch these artists had sculpt their works of art the old fashioned way with hammers, chisels and such.

Well setup for couples, families, friends - shucks, anyone! Trees, flowers, water features, walking paths, spacious lawns, sunny spots, and shady grottos all combine for conversational groups and lone sentimentalists. Pause on one of the many benches to just sit and think. Join some kids in making soap bubbles, and watch them drift away in the breeze. Watch birds as they go about their lives.
ENJOY!

We have been to Dow Gardens several times and enjoyed every trip we have taken. The gardens are lush and beautiful, and the Butterfly House is amazing in the early spring.

If coming through Midland, you should definitely take an hour and check this place out.
