“Nice motel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2010

My husband and I stayed at the Dunes for the weekend. The motel was very clean inside and out. You don't get any breakfast which would of been great since there is really not many good places to eat in the area. The two local resturants were nothing to rave about. We found them expensive for what you got, which wasn't much. We had to go to Pentwater the next bigger town to get some decent food. Silver Lake infront of the motel was pretty until you saw the yucky brown and green water, so much for swimming. We did enjoy the sand dunes and took a Jeep tour which was a blast. For the price we will probably not return to this motel.

My husband and I went to this hotel for our 22nd wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful time. The hotel was big and very nice. We had a balcony facing Silver Lake and the view is awesome of the sunset! The sand dunes in the background add that special touch! On the upper floor of the hotel is a sundeck which I have never seen before on a hotel. That was pretty neat. My husband and I didn't use the swimming pool but it is pretty good sized and the kids we saw in it were having a great time!! I highly recommend this hotel. We stayed here because of the buy two nights and get the third night for free special that they had in June. That was a very good deal!!

This is an hotel with a wonderful view to the dunes and lake. we stayed two nights and we needed more time to explore everything, the hotel is kind of small, pool is very shallow so kind of boring for the grown ups but great for little kids, they have a private beach area but not pretty, looks more like a dock than a beach so my kids werent in the water there, we had to go farther to get to the beach, silver lake is pretty and a lot of things to do. hotel was kind of expensive for what you get just for the view is worth it. I think if you walk around you will get a better deal...

We made a mistake with this choice. We wanted to stay here to see the dunes and thought it would be a more natural type experience. The dunes are open to dune buggies and they were all over the place. It was not at all relaxing. Service at hotel was just so-so, at least on check in. Check out was done by a very helpful woman. Room was just OK, just like a late 80s - early 90's room. Nothing special at all. Dining options in town are sparse, with average food. We spent one night at the Lake Shore Resort, in Sagatuck - and it was wonderful and peaceful. Wish we'd stayed there two nights.

Great location, can walk to everything in town. Must drive to dunes. Large rooms with refrigerator, small balcony facing Silver Lake and dunes, nice size bathroom. Clean, cable TV and free wi-fi. Beautiful sunset from balcony. Walk to dining, store, go-carts, minature golf, bumper cars, ice cream, souvenier shops. 1 and a half miles from dunes. Indoor pool and elevator to upper floors. 8/23 starts off season so it is a great place to stay at lower rates before the kids go back to school.

We loved the resort!! The website gave us an accurate picture of the hotel as did the reviews on Trip Advisor. The desk staff was the friendliest we have ever encountered and were great with our young children. The pool on the 4th floor is great for little ones though it was too cold to stay in for very long. The views of Silver Lake and dunes are amazing from the pool area and there is a private banquet room nearby. We are thinking of having a family reunion there next year. We had a room on the lake side and saw the most amazing sunset. Their beach area has a seawall so it is better to walk out the dock to go swimming in the lake. Their beach area had a small play area which the kids enjoyed. The room was clean, the desk staff was nice...we will definitely stay there again.

We got lucky with this resort! We had a great room on the lower level right across from the beach. We could sit on our balcony and watch the sunset on the dunes. We brought our wave runner and it was very easy to tie up at the resort in the lake that was shallow enough to walk out to. We rode our wave runner across the lake and beached at the dunes for a hike up and a run down...the kids loved it! It may be a little expensive for a lake side room but we thought it was worth the view and convenience!

  • Liked — close to the water
  • Disliked — small patio
