My family and some friends ate here on a Sunday afternoon. The food was good, especially the appetizers. We had a friendly waitress who was patient with an older friend who had trouble hearing over the din. The restaurant wasn't busy, but a large, vocal group was put right next to us, which made it difficult to converse without talking over them. It was a cool but sunny day outside, and there was an annoying crop of flies around the windows where we were seated. When we waived them away from our food, the people at the chatty table sternly told us not to push the flies their way (we were eating and they didn't even have their food yet). There are limited choices in the Mears area, and the Open Hearth is probably the best overall place to eat. We've eaten there before years ago and had a better experience then. I know that flies and rude customers aren't something the staff can do a lot about, but they went a long way toward spoiling our lunch.
