Description: For over 100 years, Schuler's Restaurant & Pub has kept it in the family - and beaten the odds. How rare is this achievement? According to Family Business Review more than 30 percent of all family-owned businesses survive into the second generation. Twelve percent will still be viable into the third generation, with three percent of all family businesses operating at the fourth-generation level and beyond. Schuler's, a four-generation, family-owned restaurant in Marshall, Michigan is an institution. Schuler's attributes its longevity to the foresight of our founder and the succeeding family members who have used their entrepreneurial skills to build a 100-year tradition of hospitality and fine dining.

I had heard about Schuler's Swiss Onion Soup and was obligated to stop when passing through Marshall. The restaurant is conveniently located on S Eagle St just south of the main street - W Michigan Ave. It is within walking distance to the many shops in the downtown and the historic Honolulu House. There is ample parking across the road and behind the restaurant. Schuler's itself is a nice looking place from the outside and has a rustic look inside with several quotes adorning the beams above in the dining area. Staff are very friendly and service was overall excellent. There is a casual atmosphere at this restaurant. A rather large menu offers a good variety. The Swiss Onion Soup was very good as was the Two Napkin Beef Brisket Sandwich. Highly recommended for anyone traveling through or staying in Marshall.

Schuler's is known for a famous bar-cheeeze one can purchase in many groceries. The restaurant serves tasty food either in the dining room or the pub, two different menus. Cheese and crackers arrive on the table quickly, the entrees were tasty. The décor is meant to be historic, but is kitschy and dated. Still this is the spot to go for some nice dining in the region.
