Great location , close to all shopping restaurants. Hotel was average, needs updating. Staff was prompt. Pool was nice for the kids.

2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 18, 2013

We stayed here on Tuesday, July 16 just for one night with family in room 103. We had the two queen room poolside. Working in hospitality, you know that the outcome of a guests stay is really important and it all starts with check in. If you have a unpleasant check in experience, the guest is off to a bad start and its hard to really change their view from there. This was certainly the case.

At check in, the front desk staff was helpful but not very friendly. I stood in front of the counter for about 3 minutes until I was even acknowledged. Once she began to check me in, I had no smile, no how are you... very un-personable. We let that part go and continued on to the room.

Our first impression was that the room was clean, but cramped. It wasn't until we started actually living in the room that we noticed some problems. The phone did not work at all, the sink would not drain and kept getting backed up, and the shower definitely needed updating (i felt dirty after the shower if you know what I mean). The slider door to the pool was hard to lock.

We decided to go into Harley's Lounge and get a few drinks and hang out with family. The bartenders were great and friendly and really made us forget about the problems in the room.

In the evening we decided to take advantage of the pool. I have to say the pool was clean and warm and everyone enjoyed it. After we had our fill of the pool and hot tub we went to dry off and there were no pool towels. We must have been in the pool area around an hour and we saw no staff come and see how the stock of towels were. So, I went back to the room, grabbed our bath towels (after soaking the room) and tried to call the front desk to fill them in and it was then I realized the phone didn't work.

I had high hopes for this property, just think it fell short. paid $120 for the one night and felt it was extremely overpriced for the problems I ran into.

Room Tip: pay a little more and stay at the Hampton Inn.

The reception staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms were upgraded, we stayed in a suite which was spacious yet suffered from the fact that it looked inside the dated unattractive indoor pool courtyard. No breakfast is included. Short walk to downtown and the harbor.

Room Tip: Maybe you like these inward facing rooms, towards the indoor pool. I don't, I prefer a window. H...
