Description: Sweet Water Cafe is a natural foods restaurant, cafe, bakery, and bar in beautiful Marquette, Michigan serving good food made from scratch using whole, natural, organic, and local ingredients. The philosophy of real food extends to everything on our menu. We select and purchase ingredients that are nearest their natural state; fresh, wholesome and full of nutrients. We then use these ingredients to make our menu, including breads, soups, sauces, entrees, dressings, desserts and cookies from our own recipes. No synthetically hydrogenated fats, artificial colors, flavors and preservatives are ever used in our cooking. The Cafe's staff of chefs, bakers, servers, cleaners and service managers take pride in carrying on the tradition of making good food from scratch, using natural, organic and local ingredients as much as possible. You will find traditional and alternative food and drink. Our recipes and cooking techniques are derived from the diversity of Earth's cultures. Our style of "multicultural cuisine" represents a living art because it borrows from, rather than replicates, traditional ethnic cuisines. It is our mission to provide a broad spectrum of quality, freshly-prepared meals served quickly and professionally in a clean and smoke-free environment.

“Good But Pricey”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

This is a place for organic foods with fresh herbs and quality ingredients but be prepared to pay for them. They have unique dishes, including omelets, but unless you know the ingredients quite well then you may not want to experiment unless the price is meaningless to you. I only did once and was able to finish the meal but it was not easy.

To be clear, it was made as ordered but I should not have chosen something that was unknown to me or I should have asked more questions. Typically, the service is very good and the atmosphere for a small old style decor diner is pleasant.

BTW, the coffee is OK but don't order any espresso drinks. I did and it was obvious that the person called off of the floor to prepare it had little understanding of how to make a good latte an it ended up being bitter and over priced.

Nothing homogenous about Sweetwater Cafe. Great food with most ingredients gathered from the local area. Lots of organic ingredients. Don't ask for a Mountain Dew or Diet Coke... you won't find that here. Give it a try.

“Enjoy but Bring Your Piggy Bank”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

We enjoyed our meal and the food tasted fresh and tasty. There's a nice selection of gluten free items. No complaints even from the kids! The service started out slow but picked up (the server had too many tables to handle). An added bonus was when a bluegrass ensemble came in a provided free music. The only drawback was the price. And a few more chips with the hummus would be nice.

“The Menu is as fresh as the food”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

We enjoy eating at the Sweet Water because of fresh food served in interesting ways. It has a wonderful breakfast menu with fresh takes on old favorites; the feta spinach omelette being my favorite. Because the prices are high (our last breakfast for three was over $38 with tip) we limit our visits to Sweet Water, which is unfortunate, because we love the fresh food and friendly staff.

“Really?”
Reviewed September 22, 2012

I went to school here and ate reguarly at SWC. The food is great-Only 5-years ago the price wasn't over-the-top expensive...everything is literally $2-2.50 more now! But the food is good, so I guess no one minds or complained. I mean really? $8 something for oatmeal? Really? (It's great oats, but I remember in 2005 it being like 5.75 or 6.25.
