I have visited this friendly town a number of times the past few years. Lots of nice dining options and a broad range of hotels......I have had good luck with the Hampton Inn, the Landmark Inn and the County Inn and Suites......

Lots of nice areas to walk......the waterfront and Sugarloaf mountain are worthwhile

At first glance it might not seem like MQT's not that big, there can't be that much to do. WRONG. I spent 4 of the best years of my life there (as a student at NMU) & tho what makes MQT really special is the natural beauty & recreation opportunities, the downtown area is teeming with life as well. The food around here will pleasantly surprise you. My favorites would include the Lagniappe (feels like you're in New Orleans), Wild Rover for Irish Pub food (Corned Beef sandwich or Shepherds Pie YUM), Portside, & the Vierling (microbrewery in the restaurant - try the blueberry beer).

For nightlife: get a Long Island Iced Tea at Remy's, sing some karaoke at Flannigans (7 nights a week), keep an eye on the game while enjoying a brew at the Doghouse, catch some excellent live music at the Upfront, & if you feel like dancing there's a club (not sure what it's called now - used to be the Matrixx).

All sorts of neat little shops along washington. And Marquette hosts some pretty cool events like the BluesFest around labor day and the start of the U.P. 200 dogsled race in february

Fun afternoon visiting an old timber/mining/shipping town. Great fun in an old fashioned Soda Shop. Hot fudge sundae was awesome.

Downtown Marquette has a variety of places to visit. From locally owned shops to restaurants and an easy walk on down to Lake Superior.

I must say those roads would take nerves of steel in the winter. Enjoyed my short time there..so much to offer. And you do.
