“One of my favorite parts of Marquette”
Review of Presque Isle Park

I remember coming to Marquette on family vacations and it was always a treat when we stopped by Presque Isle Park. I loved sticking my feet in the water, watching the ore docks, and so many paths and wonderful views of Lake Superior.

15 years later, I'm a local here, and it is still one of my favorite places to visit. I often take my lunch or just enjoy a drive around the isle. Usually cooler here than inland, so often, it's an escape in the summer from the heat of Negaunee.

The views are breathtaking, the water is so clear and the forest is magical. Biking through the island is spectacular not to mention the Cliff Diving, Deer and finish with an ice cream at the Isle Park Store.

Get out, walk the black rocks, and wade Lake Superior. Then if you have time on the way out, stop and see the carnivorous red pitcher plants. Makes a nice memory.

Visited the "Old Lighthouse" first before seeing the new one. This setting is amazing. Now a museum with a docent, the entire experience is so adorable. You can climb the light, walk to the shore, photograph the flowers and learn the history, as you view the building or shop for a treasure. Old and new are only one mile apart, so stop to see them both.

This park is part of the city of Marquette and a great place to walk or bike. You can just drive and stop to look out at the water also. This is a great place to "get away" without leaving town.
